10 Month Old German Shepherd With Severe Subaortic Stenosis

Hello guys and this website is a blessing....

I'm looking for some help and natural guidance for a pup we rescued at 8 weeks and who is now 10 months old. Her name is Hope. Hope was 8 weeks when we picked her up from a backyard breeder. We took her to the vet for a quick checkup and he was shocked at her heart murmur, immediately we set up for further testing ekg etc. she was found to have a severe case of subaortic stenosis.

Devastated, I did research and wanted a second opinion. We were referred to the cardiologist at upstate veterinary specialties in latham ny dr wey, I've used their clinic specialty drs before. Upon his investigation, Hope did have severe subaortic stenosis and a leaky valve. We were given medication atenol and benzapril, we went over her suppliments.... she gets fish oil, coq10, organic powder of chlorella, spirulina, kelp, and gets a homecooked diet on top of a high quality grain free dry food and organ meat top dress grass fed beef heart, tongue, ground turkey, chicken veggies, rice and potatoes. as well as my farm fresh eggs. shes been healthy and showing no symptoms of heart issues no fainting etc but since her defect was severe she was at a higher rate for sudden death syndrome, I've been racking my brain researching healing herbs and foods to feed her to help the situation I didn't want to believe I had to sit back and wait symptoms to pop up.

We decided after her appointment in august 24, I believe , after altho she is still showing no symptoms her heart had gotten significantly worse and her life expectancy was less than a year. So right there we decided that altho it was a risk she had a bad case of subaortic stenosis and she wasn't affected by it, to order the cutting ballons and go forth with the surgery balloon valvioplasty in which they go into her heart via main vein fish this deflated super sharp balloon into the area in which is restricting the bloodflow dialate it and open it up.

She underwent this surgery on sept 30, 2015. All went well, they increased her bloodflow and decreased her stenosis 60%. On the flip side, overnight at the clinic she developed fluid retention and her aortic valve was allowing backflow due to the stenosis region now being open and the valve not large enough to close completely.

Again I reiterate she's 10 months old, a german shepherd pup and 85 pounds. She's still young and has a zest for life! We got her home and the next day after dr wey ran some emergency diagnostics xrays Lasix and she responded great. But he did break my heart and tell me she had congestion and it may or may not be heart failure now we had to see. Well, had to see isn't good enough for me, she's a baby and I'm looking into other natural healing herbs vitamins suppliments foods you name it. I'm starting her on the l carnitine today. She's on currently cephalexin 250,500 , furosemide, atenol, benzapril, pimoden, mexilitine.

She's home under my watchful care and eating well and much more herself lately, she gets vit e b complex, vit c, coq10, kelp, fish oil borage oil, and I have, but not started hawthorn berr billberry, l argitine, ginko, tumeric, grape seed oil, has anyone heard of these? for use of recovery strengthing etc???. She's not weak or showing symptoms we actually have to keep reminding her to relax and she cannot go out and run with our other dogs but we do take some leisuerly strolls multiple times daily. Sorry for the mass question, and ramble but trying to give this pup the best chances for recovery and ths site has the most informative blog testimonials I've seen. Thank you.
