12 Yo Female Lab With Blood In Dogs Urine

Posted by Tab628 (San Lorenzo, Ca) on 09/09/2014

My 12 year old female lab has recently had blood showing up when urinating. Several times there seemed to be mucous type clots. There is no frequent urination and she does not seem to be in any discomfort. I would love to know if anyone has had the same situation occur and what, if any, natural remedy helped. Her vet is way too expensive and I really can't afford to take her there. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the subject. I am going to try the ACV today since I have it on hand, hope it works.

Hey Tab628!

My first thought reading your post was that the blood had to be coming from someplace other than the bladder, as I cannot imagine your dot not experiencing any discomfort. But your post is very clear - so I had to do some googling and this is what I found:

Blood clots in urine = very bad, no matter how you dice it. In UTI situations it means the infection is very advanced. It also occurs with bladder cancer/tcc. The fact that your dog is not experiencing discomfort or frequent urination is rather puzzling, which makes me think tcc.

You can read up on UTI's on EC: https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/bladder-infection-dogs.html

Read up on tcc: http://www.akcchf.org/research/success-stories/transitional-cell-carcinoma.html

Despite the cost of a professional veterinary diagnosis involving x-ray or ultrasound imaging and a biopsy, it might be wise to spend the money to know and better understand exactly what you and your dog are facing. **This route is my first advice to you.**

If spending money is absolutely out of the question, if I had to stab in the dark I would strongly think bladder cancer and consider Essiac tea - read up on EC about it: https://www.earthclinic.com/herbs/essiac-tea.html

And given either scenario, the ACV can only help - JMHO.

Good luck and please report back!

Tab628--- Theresa's diagnosis seems correct according to my own experience.

I would strongly recommend ESSIAC, with roots, Four herb. Essiac West online are where I get Renee Caisse's herbal mixture. It is more expensive but you use little at a time.

Dosage is 1/4 tsp.of the solution twice day on empty stomach added to which three oz warm water given by syringe. Essiac West will include directions on page 8, fourth paragraph. If the dog behaves as usual you can try one half tsp. Cut back if lethargic and unusually quiet. This is because the four herbs are very potent and fresh.

If you have a juicer, juice a small quantity (egg cup) of organic carrots juice. This can be added to the food.

Give it at least six months. But before that you will see improvement. Don't forget turmeric dissolved in VCO over the food.

Namaste, Om

Tab628,

Our Golden Retriever/Shepherd Willie had bladder cancer - aka transitional cell carcinoma. It was discovered during a routine senior exam when they found something suspicious on an x-ray. He then was referred for an ultrasound which revealed three tumors in his bladder.

We opted try natural remedies and his tumors totally disappeared. I wrote a book about the program I put him on with complete instructions, supplements used, dosages, and recipes for the special diet used. Others who have used the program have achieved total remission too. It works for other types of cancer as well.

We just recently had one episode of blood in the urine of one of our dogs, took a urine specimen to the vet which came back clear but she said stones can come and go and irritate the wall of the bladder causing blood in the urine. We're using cranberry capsules and D-mannose even though there was no infection.

I suggest collecting a urine specimen and taking that to the vet to determine if there is an infection. It's way cheaper than taking the dog to the vet. It's about $15 at our vet, probably a little more in the Bay Area (I grew up in Hayward). That would be a first step in finding out what may be going on. If it is a UTI get some D-mannose at the health food store and give 500mg. 2-3 times a day, it should clear it up in 24-48 hours. You can also use the ACV (preferably Bragg's organic unfiltered) and cranberry capsules along with the D-mannose.

Hello,

I just came across your post.

My dog has bladder cancer and is at the vet right now getting his bladder drained. They may not be able to do it but fingers crossed they can just to make him more comfortable. I would love to read your book. I have been treating him with natural remedies also but I think they have stopped working. If he makes it through today I was hoping for information that could help very quickly. I hope to hear from you soon.
