19 Yr Old Cat With Bladder Cancer

Posted by Ann62 (Niagara Falls, New York) on 02/22/2015

My 19 year old boy was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The untreatable kind. However, no biopsy was done, so it is actually inconclusive. I don't want to put him through this type of surgery. He is doing quite well. While I am 90% sure this is cancer, that 10% is giving me hope that it is not. IF they are cysts and continue growing, it could cause him from blocking. This is a huge concern. Any suggestions to stunt the growth? Thank you!

Hey Ann62!

You might consider giving your boy Essiac tea- read up on it on EC: https://www.earthclinic.com/herbs/essiac-tea.html

You could brew it and put it in his wet food, or dip one of his paws and have him lick it dry.

You might also consider Rescue Remedy for you both; not sure about cancer inhibiting qualities, but it does help in times of stress.

Hello Ann,

I am so sorry that your boy has this! My sweet girl started exhibiting urine in her blood at 16 years, 8 months. I took her for evaluation at UC Davis Veterinary School and had several test were done. I too, decided to stop testing given I was told that it was 95% likely that this was TCC. I was given a prognosis of 3 months for her, maybe 5-6 months with chemo. I declined to put her through any more since the prognosis was so poor. I did however, bring her to a reputable holistic vet in the Bay Area and put her on regimen of omega-3 and an immune-boosting supplement that this vet sells. She has done remarkably well although she continued to lose weight until she leveled off at 6 pounds and I fear now that almost 1 1/2 years later, she is beginning to decline. Her appetite is still hearty, so I am about to get on the emotional roller-coaster again. I want to add that she has mild kidney disease and I have been giving her Sub-Q fluids for 15 months. She is a remarkable girl! It is highly likely that I will be faced with "The decision" soon but my advice to you is seek out a reputable holistic vet in your area. I was lucky enough to have my regular vet refer me to someone.

All the best. I know how painful this is!
