Remedies Needed to Shrink Adrenal Gland Tumor

Posted by Lou G. (San Francisco, California) on 10/15/2021

Adrenal Tumor

I was diagnosed with an adrenal tumor -- confirmed by a CT scan (1.9 cms) and dexamethasone suppressant blood tests -- Cortisol level 4.7 ug/dL (upper limit is 1.7 ug/dL). The blood tests were done twice to eliminate any false positive, but both times Cortisol levels were much higher than the upper limit, confirming a functional and malignant adrenal carcinoma.

The endocrinologist referred me to a surgeon and they recommend surgical removal of the adrenal gland, one gland will be removed. After surgery, I will be put on hormone therapy for the rest of my life. There are some significant side effects of hormone therapy - including secondary induction of cancer.

I am hoping and planning to start taking the mushroom cocktails - Reishi, Cordyceps, Maitake and Chaga, three times a day in the powder and extract form. My hope is that mushrooms might be able to shrink and heal the cancer?

Please provide inputs and any comments that can help me in dealing with this very difficult situation. I am also a vegan, and have never smoked and never consumed alcoholic beverages in my life.

Hello Lou,

If your natural regimen of potent mushrooms does not pan out or is not quite enough on its own, you might talk to your doctor about the use of a combination of Metformin and Melatonin as adjunctive treatment to his standard of care. Below is a case report of a person who used this combination successfully to treat their long standing Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC) as a maintenance device over years of being cancer free.

Melatonin itself is anticarcinogenic through multiple methods of action and it is also synergistic with many of the chemo drugs typically used to treat ACC plus it also has shown the ability to resensitize cancer cells that have become resistant to specific chemo agents. Melatonin also helps ameliorate the negative side effects of chemo in people. Melatonin is antimetastatic, cytotoxic, pro-apoptotic, antiangiogenic and resists cancer progression. Melatonin is also synergistic with radiotherapy while helping to ameliorate many of the negative side effects of radiotherapy.

Metformin has shown activity in ACC and is synergistic with melatonin. Here is that link :

The following link gives a very basic description of the anticancer effects of melatonin so you can see that melatonin is almost always a must have when it comes to cancer.

I have written a lot on Earth Clinic about the multiple positive health effects of melatonin for humans, but I have not discussed the utility of melatonin with cancer because that would take a book to properly describe and the studies are accumulating at a brisk pace. No discussion of cancer should be had without also including melatonin in that discussion. Once you read enough studies on melatonin and cancer, you quickly realize that melatonin should be part of almost all cancer treatment plans, but the medical community has turned a blind eye to what the scientific community is showing in terms of the importance of melatonin in cancer therapy. You may be asking why is the American Cancer Society (ACS) not actively promoting melatonin in cancer therapy and that is a very good question for a business that supposedly exists to search for a cure for cancer and research the best treatments for cancer. ACS was started in 1913 and the medical industry is still using chemotherapy from the 1940s to today! The CEO makes about one million dollars a year! If I am a CEO making a $1,000,000 a year and a cure will put me out of my job, how motivated should I be to find a cure?

In any case, there are many very good reasons why melatonin and melatonin receptors are produced throughout the body including every mitochondria in the body! Unfortunately, that production declines sharply with age and is correlated with age related diseases of which cancer is one. Melatonin has an excellent safety profile and when compared to any cancer treatment, is in a class by itself for safety!

First, thank you Art, I truly and grateful for your timely and helpful response. The link you referenced -- Metformin and Melatonin is perhaps what I need and may help me out. I will go to my endocrinologist to get the prescription for Metaformin, since Melatonin can be purchased over the counter.

Thank you once agin for your helpful response.

Hi Lou,

I should mention that they definitely downplayed the role of melatonin in that case report and in my opinion they way under dosed the melatonin also. To give a better context on melatonin dosing in cancer, Dr. Shallenberger uses 360 mg melatonin in divided doses for his cancer patients, while he gives his non cancer patients 180 mg/night. I am now at 120 mg of melatonin per night as a preventative for the many health issues I have written about on EC that pertain to melatonin.

If you don't mind saying, what is your age? I ask because the decline in melatonin seems to be strongly reflected in increased health issues with the age of 50 years being a tipping point where age related diseases such as cancer start to very noticeably increase in frequency and intensity.

I hope this combination proves to resolve your issue in conjunction with the mushroom complex you mentioned. Please keep us updated on your progress and good luck!

Again, first, thank you Art for taking the time and responding back. I really do appreciate it a lot! Next, the answer to your question -- I am 59 years old, vegan, non-smoker, non-drinker. The adrenal cortex cancer was detected during a CAT scan, last month. Since then, I have had blood tests with Dexamethasone suppressant and urine tests. All came out normal, except for Cortisol in blood after taking suppressant. Since there is a functional and harmonically active tumor, surgery was recommended.

I started taking the following regimen:

1. 6:00 AM One lemon (juice) with NaHCo3/KHCO3 (Na is 2/3 and K is 1/3)
2. 7:00 AM Fresh grated turmeric in a tbsp of almond butter + pinch of black pepper.
3. 8:00 AM Oats + walnut with oat milk.
4. 10:30 AM Vegetable protein in almond milk + blend of mushrooms extracts/powder.
5. 12:30 PM Salad (Leafy greens, steamed mushrooms).
6. 3:00 PM Fresh grated turmeric in a tbsp of almond butter + pinch of black pepper.
7. 6:30 PM Soup -- blend of mushrooms.

Throughout the day, I drink tea made up of Green Tea leaves + Gymnema Sylvestra + Bitter Melon + Lemon Grass.

Now I have added, Metformin + Melatonin at bed time. I do not think I need Metformin twice a day, as described in the research publication, that you so kindly provided, since I am consuming Gymnema (leaves)+ Bitter Gaurd (leaves and vegetables)that also acts as a carbohydrate regulator. What you think?

I am sincerely hoping that in the next 3 months I get some improvement, since Adrenocortical Carcinoma is very aggressive and the surgery is planned for end of December or the beginning of January 2022.

Once again, I thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Lou

Hi Lou,

On the black pepper, it might be worth switching to Bioperine as this is a standardized product that will deliver the exact same amount with each dose. Bioperine is often combined with curcumin to increase bioavailability significantly, but what is often not stated about Bioperine or piperine is that it is anticarcinogenic itself through multiple methods of action. There are many studies to support the anticancer effects of piperine.

I like the use of green tea over EGCG, the active component in white, green and black teas as it has shown to cause liver damage in some people.

The alkalizing is helpful for tissues and urine, but the blood pH is tightly regulated. Cancer doesn't like high alkalinity, but neither do normal cells, but raising tissue and urine pH is still helpful in conserving the bodies bicarbonate stores.

The mushroom blend is a good choice and will add the anticarcinogenic activity of beta glucans.

Along the line of bitter melon, you might do a little reading on Graviola.

Overall, you are attacking this cancer from many different directions, which is very good! Please keep us updated on your progress! Maybe this can become an Earth Clinic protocol for ACC.

Hi Art:

Once again, I really do appreciate your insightful comments! I will get Bioperine or piperine asap and use it instead of black pepper.

I also have ordered 1.3/1,6 beta-Glucan as well, that I plan to take with amino-acid mixtures -- Vit. C, Lysine, Threonine, Proline, BACC. I should have these by end of the week, So will start early next week, 45 mins after alkalizing with Lemon/Lime and HCO3 (Na/K).

I am also considering oxygen as well. Initially, will get the sports oxygen cans, until I buy the oxygen concentrator machine. I plan to inhale 85-90% oxygen for 3 - 5 mins every hour. I am not able to use IR sauna at this point. It has been shown that cancer cells decay in an oxygen rich environment and this effect is catalyzed further by heat. My view was to go the IR sauna and inhale oxygen from sports oxygen canister. However, IR saunas are all closed due to the pandemic.

Let me know, what you think? I know, I am going over board, but after researching ACC and its aggressiveness in metastasizing have me worried and want to do everything humanly possible so as to avoid surgically removing the adrenal gland.

Take care of yourself.

Lou
