Remedies Needed for Adult With ADHD

Posted by Joseph G (Mechanicsville, Va) on 11/27/2018

I think I have ADD. I can't sleep at night because my brain goes into overdrive, I have a hard time focusing/concentrating on anything, since childhood, and daydream constantly (my daydreams are much nicer than my daily life! ). I've been taking benadryl, 25 mg, at bedtime for sleep but don't want to do that long term. Does anyone have suggestions for me? I'me 60+ years old and would like to have a calm, restfull night and stop the daydreaming.

Try not eating after 6 PM. If that doesn't help then you need to pay more attention to what you are eating for an evening meal.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that you have ADHD. My brain also goes into "overdrive" the minute I lay my head on my pillow at night! What's really helped me is the following: stopping (cold-turkey if necessary!) any/all sugar, and anything with sugar. Sugar just hypes you up. Stop all processed foods and unhealthy carbs (pastas, breads, pastries, etc.), and start eating healthfully with LOTS of FRESH veggies (all colors of the rainbow). You need more nutrients that you get from healthy whole foods.

You may also need more magnesium which is a calming supplement. I use Natural Calm, the powdered form that you mix in water. It helps to take the "edge" off, and allows me to fall asleep faster and with less anxiety.
