Advice Needed for Dog Who Suddenly Stopped Barking

My dog stopped barking probably within the last week, but I am not sure. I noticed that he was silently trying to scare away a racoon, normally he barks like crazy when he does it. Now I can't remember when have I heard him bark or howl last time but definitely not in the last couple of days.
Any advice? Thanks.
