Advice Needed On Rash On Neck And Chest
For almost a year now I've had some sort of skin irritation on my neck & chest. I'm 59 years old and so my skin isn't perfect by any means but this began suddenly and I thought it could of been stress but it's still bothering me. When it first started it was a SCARLET red large splotch on middle of my neck (of course right where the wrinkles are) and red splotches all over my chest area and some red on my chin. The irritation and itching was almost unbearable. My regular doctor gave me some extra strength cortizone cream and I was desperate to do whatever would give me relief so I used it. It did help and I used it for two weeks.
Since then the horrible scarlet isn't there and it's not unbearable but the RED is still there and it's always feeling irritated. Before I've began my own search for more natural ways to treat these things I made an appt. with the dermatologist. Well that was a big mistake! He really didn't know what it was caused by because every question he asked me..... Did I change any laundry products or foods or vitamins or creams or wear jewelry or..... All were negative answers! I've made no changes to cause this and I'm not constantly in the sun and wear sunscreen should I go in sun and why is it only on this one area of my body? So this dermotologist prescribed a different cream. I tried it FOR ONE DAY and threw it away! The area which was suppose to be treated for redness and irritation because firey red and felt like it was on fire! So I looked up the medication and it was some sort of steriod with tons of side effects! NO WAY am I using that!
so I'm asking for any suggestions and advice of what this may be and what to use that will help! I live in Southern California and summer is quickly approaching and with two grandsons to care for daily I can't hide in my house!

Hi Peggy -- I have read alot on this site and it seems there are three things that I would try if I were in your shoes.
1) Baking Soda -- mix it with a little water and put it on the spots. I did this for some spots I had and it relieved the itching/burning and got rid of the spots within a week. I also tried rubbing a little Milk Of Magnesia on and it seemed to soothe it as well.
2) ACV -- some people have reported improved skin conditions by using this on spots as well as ingesting.
3) Iodine -- now, I don't know that this would help in this situation but it doesn't hurt to try painting one of the small spots and see what the results are.
I would try all three on three different spots and see what works. Have you noticed any difference in your overall health since these things appeared? Alot of times skin conditions are indicative of something going on in your body. Please keep us informed of your progress.

Skin conditions are usually an expression that there is something not in balance in the digestion system. The cause can be stress, or too acidic nutrition and all kind of other things. I would try to drink ACV mixed in water and twice a day 1/2 teaspoon baking soda mixed in water. That should clear the rash. You can also additionally put some ACV on a cotton ball and pad the rash with it. Hope you feel better!
