Questions About Apple Cider Vinegar for Older Cat With Severe Allergies

Posted by Maria (Nj) on 08/26/2015

My 19 year old cat has severe allergies to food. Right now I have him on raw lamb food but his face is red, itchy and looks sore from all the scratching; and even though he has his fur, you can feel scabs throughout his body from all the scratching.

I read most of the ACV posts but I didn't get my reply. how would I use the ACV on his face? should I spray it there even though it looks sore and red? please help. I am desperate and if I take him to vet he will put steroids which I don't want. My poor cat is so miserable. help.

You may need to take your cat to the vet to make sure it isn't something more serious than allergies, e.g., mites.

You can also mix a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar (only the Braggs brand! ) with a 1/4 cup of filtered or distilled water. Saturate a cotton ball with this solution and gently wipe your cats face with it. My concern is if he has any open or oozing sores, this would sting, which is why you may need to get something from the vet first to heal the sores, then use the ACV as a preventative in the future.
