Borax Dosing Questions

I keep seeing conflicting information about the dosage. I keep seeing 1/8tsp in water for women and drink, and then 1 tsp per liter in distilled water and drink only 1 tsp of the 1 liter solution. And then I also see people reccomending distilled water for the 1/8tsp daoly solution. My question is, if you are choosing to drink the 1/8tsp and drinking it daily, is the distilled water still needed? I'm assuming the distilled water is so that the water is sterile, if you are doing the 1 liter solution and plan to keep that watrr for more than a day to prevent microbe or bacteria growth. But if I'm making a solution to drink daily with 1/16th tsp or 1/8th tsp of borax, is regular water ok? I'm just starting out and don't want to over do it. Also, money is tight, and would help if I don't have to purchase jugs of distilled water so frequently & would only need it for the 1liter solution. I hope my question makes sense.
