Borax for Horses

I have a horse with arthritis and would like to start a borax treatment. What dose is recommended for a horse of about 800 pounds?

Hi Adelheid,

My beautiful mare got a combination of thrush, white line disease and terrible, debilitating arthritis. She could walk only by throwing her front legs forward, in half circles, from her shoulders. My heart was breaking.

I thought about putting her down, but decided to pray for direction, healing and natural cures. I remembered Ted's borax cures and came to Earth Clinic.

I dosed her using Ted's guidelines for people=roughly 1/4 teaspoon per 200 pounds of weight in her water daily. I give her the borax, 20 Mule Team (NOT boric acid, which is poisonous), in her water 5 days on and then 2 days off (weekends off=easy to remember).

She turned around immediately, but I am keeping her on the protocol for now.

I now keep her stall and pasture clean. She has a knack for standing directly in her poop. :(

Also using Durasole for the thrush and white line. She is a different horse=zero lameness.

Check her feet for injury. She may be trying to soothe them by standing in her droppings.

Best wishes for you and your horse. She is blessed to have you.

Hi, I have a 7 year old thoroughbred that has arthritis from a racing injury and have heard of borax helping arthritis in both horses and people. My question is how much do I give him?? He's approximately 1,200 pounds.

Thank you!
