Buying Ted's Mange Remedy Ingredients in Greece - Questions

Posted by Val (Crete, Greece) on 11/26/2015

I care for rescued street cats and picked up a young kitten with 'mange' (vet diagnosed) The cream which he prescribed hasnt improved this condition so I abandoned it and started a 50/50 ACV and water mix soaking. This appears to be imroving this condition but for future use I wanted to mix the solution recommended - Borax - Hydrogene Peroxide - and ACV.

However - here I have been to a chemist and have been assured that these two items are the same - ACIDO BORICO = Borax and Water soft Peroxide Oxygene = Hydrogene peroxide. I would like your opinion of the accuracy of this information BEFORE using these products on young cats PLEASE. Also the recipe for this mix.

Thanks so much

Hello Val,

Your information is NOT accurate.

Borax is also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate. Your Acido Borico is BORIC ACID - this is NOT the same as borax.

If you do find borax please do not mix it with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide as you will be creating peracetic acid which is much, much stronger than the original mange remedy.
