Cat With Fast Spreading Tumor In Jaw

Posted by Petrina (Castleton, Va) on 05/15/2015

My 17 year old cat, Brahma, has mandibular mass on his lower jaw. He is taking a homeopathic remedy from my vet, a marijuana compound and a mushroom compound which we mix with raw goats milk and syringe down his throat. It has progressed rapidly. he is able to eat some, goes outside a little and seems pretty content. If I could find a way to shrink this mass, that would be great, however, right now, I am concerned about his comfort. It seems that his throat is sore from the mass stretching his skin. Also it seems that it might be making his molars ache. Does anyone have any suggestions for his throat and his molars? even for shrinking the mass? Thank you

Hey Petrina!

Some report very good results in shrinking tumors with castor oil packs, or a paste of castor oil and turmeric, and even a paste of tumeric alone. Please also consider Rescue Remedy for added comfort for Brahma and also for yourself for the stress you are under.

Theresa, thank you for your suggestions. Since the tumor is in the bone, I'm not certain how I would apply the compress. the tumor is on the left lower jaw and has spread across past the midline to the right side. It is also spreading down his neck. How long would I apply it?

Do you have any ideas about his sore throat and aching molars?

Thank you very much. Petrina

Hi Theresa. Is there a chance of the tumor bursting or oozing from the bone? My vet is concerned about it. Thank you. Petrina

Hi Petrina and Theresa, my 17 year old cat Venus also has a tumor on her lower right jaw, she recently lost a tooth due to the rapid growth of the tumor. Her prognosis is not good. She has been on antibiotics for over a week but I don't think it's helping with the infection, she is bleeding and has lots of oozing coming from the site of the lost tooth. I heard great things about Essaic tea so I purchased a bottle of Cassie's tea. The tea is already brewed, I'm not sure if it's as strong as brewing it my self but I at this point I'm desperate to try anything. I started giving her the tea yesterday by putting it in her food. I would also love to try the castor oil packs but I'm not sure how to apply. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated, she is still eating and I am taking it day by day. I don't want her to suffer and I want to make her as comfortable as possible. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Maria!

Sorry to hear about your senior purrkid's tumor. If the prognosis is not good, and comfort is the main goal, my thoughts would be to continue the tea, to consider lots of cat nip in case she wants it, and also Rescue Remedy for the both of you, as taking this day by day takes a toll on you day by day. Considering the constant oozing from the lost tooth, you might try feeding iron rich foods such as chicken or beef liver - raw or cooked or however Venus will take it. One last thing - and this may be too difficult to do - is to pack the oozing tooth area with turmeric which may help stop the oozing and help with the tumor. This might simply be too stressful for Venus, however, so go with your gut as to what advice you take.

Hey Petrina - no good answers for you :-(

Castor oil and turmeric can shrink tumors but they tend to burst and drain at a certain point; not sure how that would be for bone vs soft tissue. Some have found Essiac tea a powerful cancer fighter and that might be the best approach if you wish to avoid drainage issues.

Hey Petrina!

Your poor baby :-(

I think your best bet would be Essiac Tea - you might need a syringe to get him to drink it.

My gut is to go with vet prescribed pain meds to help with the pain, but you could also consider Rescue Remedy and cat nip.

Hi Theresa, I appreciate your help. I wish Venus would let me pack her tooth area with turmeric but I know for sure this would traumatize her!! I'm giving her one teaspoon of Essiac tea twice a day with her food, do you think I should increase this? I keep hoping for a miracle but as each day goes by I realize it's not happening. We love her so much, she's been such a joy for all these years and it breaks my heart to see her this way. Thanks again, Maria

Hey Maria!

Some take Essiac 4x day. Additional herbals to try - and I have no personal experience so you must use your own intuition and research [google] are Revivin herbal formula, beta-glucan, transfer factor plus, Neoplasene and Poly-MVA.

Read up on EC's cancer page on hydrogen peroxide which may also help:

Lastly, please do not lose sight of the fact that the miracle has already happened; you have been blessed to know and enjoy the awesome soul that is Venus.

Sending prayers and healing energy to you and Venus...

Hi Theresa,

We had to let Venus go on Friday. I wanted to take a moment to thank you. I was so touched by your kind words, they have really helped me get through these difficult days. You made me realize that the miracle did indeed happen the day Venus came into our lives. We were truly blessed to have her for all these years. Venus was truly special, she had a beautiful soul and was loved by everyone that knew her. I'm heart broken and I miss her so much already but I'm at peace knowing she's no longer suffering. Venus will forever remain in my heart.

Thank you, Maria
