I am living on Gastro Stop every second day. I also take Xarelto a blood thinner for previous DVT's so am really restricted on which natural supplements to take like turmeric apple cider vinegar as it interacts with the blood thinner. I have tried different probiotics but they dont help. Im going to start having Kefir but does anyone have any suggestions on anything I could try to heal my digestive system. I also have anxiety so this doesnt help. Thamk you

Hi Lee,

Two very useful remedies for IBS are low dose naltrexone (LDN) as discussed here:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17080248/

Here is a relevant quote from the link :

' The present study assessed the efficacy and safety of PTI-901 (low-dose NTX) treatment in Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients. Forty-two IBS patients participated in an open-label study. Participants received 0.5 mg PTI-901/day for 4 weeks and were evaluated during baseline, during treatment, and at 4-week follow-up. Patients recorded degree of abdominal pain, stool urgency, consistency, and frequency. Primary outcomes were number of pain-free days and overall symptom relief, evaluated by a global assessment score. Data were analyzed per protocol. Global assessment improved in 76% of 42 patients. During treatment, the mean weekly number of pain-free days increased from 0.5+/-1 to 1.25+/-2.14 (P=0.011). There were no significant adverse reactions. PTI-901 improves pain and overall feeling, and is well tolerated by IBS patients. '

Another useful remedy is ginger root as discussed here in this review of multiple clinical trials :

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S266714252400099X#:~:text=Ginger appears to be effective, in any of the studies.

Here is a relevant quote from the review :

' In the current review, evidence of ginger's effect on bowel disorders is reported. A daily dose of 2000 mg of ginger is beneficial for reducing inflammation, dyspepsia, colorectal cancer and ulceration in the digestive tract of patients with IBS and IBD. '

The LDN will require a prescription from your doctor to a compounding pharmacy.

Here is a link to a typical Ginger Root product :

Both products have shown benefit for IBS-D and IBS-C

Lee, take it from an old IBS hand: Equalactin, bar none. In the US it's available OTC but sometimes the pharmacies don't carry it and you have to ask them to order it. I don't travel without it.

It's a supplement of sorts, and balances out the water in the gut. I just checked, and amazon carries it. It comes in chewable tablets. True magical stuff.
