Why Isn't Coconut Oil Helping My Depression and Exhaustion?

Posted by Willie Sta.ana (Philippines) on 05/21/2016

I am searching for the cure of my illness which I suffer for the last three years already, I came across in the internet the health benefits of virgin coconut oil and I tried taking it orally recently for the past 46 days and I don't notice any positive result. I am 64 years old, jobless and I am from the Philippines. May I ask anybody out there a good samaritan to help me give any health advice.

Here is my story: Three years ago I had mild stroke twice, the CT Scan result showed chronic ischemic infarction right. I also had prostate issue, diabetes and high blood pressure. Because of the my illness, I was forced to retire from employment and remain jobless for the last three years. Worst, for the last three years I am suffering from severe depression and adrenal fatigue as I searched in the internet I have the symptoms of depression and adrenal fatigue.

Its my 46th day of taking virgin coconut oil 3-4 tsp. a day and there seems no positive effect. The whole day I am exhausted with no energy at all. For thew last three years I had no appetite for food, now my non craving for food had increase. I have to force myself to eat my meals even without chewing just swallowing it to put food into my stomach in order to take my medication because I have to blow it out from my mouth if it stay long chewing the food. I feel the food I eat does not give me any energy at all. I feel always hungry and tired the whole day it is only during night time I feel normal but I do not crave for food as I have no appetite. I urinate frequently 17 to 21 times and defecate 4 to 5 times in the 24 hours cycle. I noticed coconut oil is with my bowel when I defecate. My doctor said that I have low energy because of my diabetes my blood sugar is only 144 the last time I fasted my blood was tested. I complained to my doctor my brain fog, fatigue, loss of appetite, uneasiness, lack of concentration, etc., but according to him all those things are the effect of my diabetes and depression. I also take vitamins and food supplement still I have no appetite. For how long I have to take coconut oil to have positive effect on my illness? Thank you and your health advice is greatly appreciated. Godbless.

Many of your symptoms match those with a mycoplasma infection. This organism gets inside the cells and disrupts the energy producing organells which are called mitochondria. A quick fix like a band-aid would be taking pqq (Pyrroloquinoline quinone) and co enzyme q 10. This will directly increase your energy levels very quickly and as your energy levels rise you will feel better all over your body. Co enzyme q 10 is an immune system stimulant plus it acts as a powerful antidepressant too.

Coconut oil is a very good idea. I would continue taking it.

Since you live in the Philippines there is an herb that grows there the scientific name is gynura procumbens, the local name I can not remember but the herb is really good for curing diabetes and it grows freely in the philippines. People commonly use the herb as a leafy salad vegetable but it grows on a vine. It has antidiabetes and anticancer properties to it and may act as an antidepressant for some people. Most people who eat it frequently get over diabetes in about 6 months time

I believe you may have intestinal dysbiosis with more bad bacteria in the gut than good bacteria. Fatigue and depression is frequently a problem in this condition. To help avoid depression take lots of probiotics with lactobacilli rhamnoses in it. This type of bacteria create an amino acid called gaba in our intestines. Gaba is used by the brain as a neurotransmittter to ward off depression and relieve anxiety. Gaba helps the brain to calm down and relax. Without gaba you are nervous and restless all the time. And without lactobacilli rhamnoses to create it for you then you feel depressed more often than not.

The cleaner your colon, the better your prostate will perform. Good intestinal bacteria help the prostate very much. For prostate troubles take zinc and lots of vitamin c plus try saw palmetto and stinging nettle herbs.

Hope this helps.

RE: Why Isn't Coconut Oil Helping My Depression and Exhaustion? (Willie - Philippines)

Hi Willie,

I read your post and want you to know I am thinking about you and praying for your complete recovery. From everything you've been going through these last few years, it is no wonder depression and adrenal fatigue have been added to the list of ailments.

Here are a few questions and ideas that may help: With the frequent urination issue, have you been tested for a urinary tract infection? Ask your doctor to test you. He may prescribe an antibiotic. You may also be dehydrated from the frequent trips to the restroom.

I take Triple Strength Cranberry Softgels from Walgreens Pharmacy for chronic UTI's. I take 4-5 softgels three times a day for the first few days, then cut back to 3 or 4 a day.

If it is a mild case of dehydration, I take 1 or 2 Emergen-C packets mixed in a glass of water a day. It contains salt, potassium and vitamins. It also boosts my energy levels.

Until the bowel movements return to once or twice a day, I would also eliminate the coconut oil. Then keep it to 1 teas. a day.

For depression and adrenal boost:

B-Complex vitamins, plus sublingual vit. B (under the tongue) 1,000-3,000mcg per day

Adrenal glandulars: My homeopathic doctor prescribed DSF Formula by Nutri-West but a good health food store may carry another good brand. I notice a difference when I take it.

L-Tyrosine 1000mg daily for adrenal support also recommended by natural and homeopathic doctors.

Natural remedies for depression (if you are not on anti-depression meds)

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) 100-200 mg per day.

chromium 50mcg daily

L-Theonine 200mg daily

Eat more turkey (all natural no additives preferred) It contains natural tryptophan

Do you take enough calcium and magnesium every day? Get outside for some fresh air and sunlight every day too.

Do you have loving family members surrounding and supporting you? This is also very important.

Prayer and thinking about good things in life helps.

If you are not satisfied with your doctor, ask for a second opinion.

Once you are feeling a bit better, see if you can do some volunteer work a few hours a week. Getting around other people will help with the depression.

For more energy, I try to drink a green drink every day along with vitamins and probiotics. Perhaps others who see this post may have more suggestions. I could use them as well.

Hope you are feeling better soon, Willie! Please keep us posted! May God bless you and restore all of your health to you!
