Could Eyestrain Be Causing Me to go Downhill at Age 88?

Posted by Mrs A. (London Uk) on 11/23/2015

I am 88, and with no discernible ailments (I am on no medication). I have always eaten well, with the emphasis on raw food and smoothies. Yet for the past couple of years I have been going steadily downhill, and have now reached the point when I want only to lie on my bed. My friends (including those in their eighties and nineties, who all seem as sprightly as anything) clearly think I'm not trying, or that it's psychosomatic. I've had blood tests, hoping to hear of some deficiency, but alas, no such luck.

Could it possibly be eyestrain? I spend a negligible amount of time on the computer, but I do read - in fact (since I have no television) reading is what I do, for anything up to sixteen hours a day, but almost always for ten or twelve. My family dismiss the idea - but could it be? PLEASE HELP! There is so much I still want to do.

Dear Mrs. A,

I am sorry to hear you feel you are going downhill. Do you walk for exercise? I work with many lovely people your age and have learned walking increases vitality and zest for life. You may not feel the desire to walk, but perhaps you can start off slowly and find someone to walk with you. Do you have a pet? One of my aunts is 96 and walks her dog several miles each day without fail. I believe the dogs in her life have kept her going. She takes no supplements and eats very little. On the other hand, I have another relative a few years younger than you who stopped walking when her dog passed and she rapidly declined after that. Others on this site will be able to advise supplements to try, but my humble advice is to walk a little bit each day if you can.

My very best to you.

You might want to take a vitamin b complex, vitamin b increases your energy and helps with depression, ya sure your in your 80's but heck, you have another 20 years left of good life .. so get active again, mingle, have fun, go dancing :) and as for eye strain? check out billberry vitamins . they are good for eyes and cataracts . enjoy your life :)
