Crohns/ulcerative colitis help needed

Hello! My Dad is 77 years young! Very active and young for his age. Almost 36 years ago, he was diagnosed having crohns and had most of his colon removed. For the past 36 years he has managed life with minimal issues. Until recently, he has had a major flare up…quality of life has been lost as most days he cannot leave his home. This has been going on since July. The doc has put him on steroids and he has had his first round of stelara. There has been no help with discussing probiotics or any other whole body help. I am Very concerned. I know it is a slow process but given the medication, There has been no real improvement.

Hi A.Arnold

Please look into low dose Naltrexone (LDN) for Crohn's/ulcerative colitis (UC). It is very gentle on the person and has shown benefit in studies for Crohn's and UC as discussed here :

https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-5085(21)04033-6/fulltext

And here :

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5972567/

Here is a relevant quote :

' Our findings imply that the initiation of LDN in IBD is followed by reduced dispensing of several drugs considered essential in the treatment of CD and UC.'

LDN requires a prescription and has a very good safety profile. Once your dad's doctor reads about it, the doctor will probably prescribe it. It only requires a dose that is usually 5 mg per night or less.

Hi A.Arnold... This normally applies to people that have all their "tubing", so I don't know if it will work... I was cured from whatever was going on... IBS, Ulcers, Chron's or whatever...

I know my guts were constantly rocking and rollin, but I wasn't getting a camera shoved in either direction, so I tried the recipe...

I knew a guy that had most of his tubing removed, and he could only eat small slices of Beef / Beef Jerky because everything else would come out immediately (Or so he said, I wasn't going to question that)...

Here is the recipe for a week or more, depending on how he feels...

However many bowls he can take...

1) Fully Cooked Lentils... 2 Cups Pressure cooked is what I do, lasts 2-3 days.

2) Basmati Rice or Quinoa, Pre cooked on stove, 1 Cup per Meal.

3) 3 Chopped Onion, I saute in Butter ahead of time for 3 days worth.

4) Ginger Powder... I put in a Tsp every bowl, you might aim for less, but if he's having pain anyway, it's not like the heat from extra Ginger will be a complaint.

Cinnamon, Oregano and Thyme can also be added.

Mix all with Water and heat... Only precaution is Rice can't sit in a pot by itself for hours because of bacteria, so you have to make it separate for every meal.

I assume he can't become constipated, but if that does happen in his normal life, an herbal laxative taken at night called Triphala will help, and should generally result in him waking up and going to the bathroom first thing. The dosage is dependent on him, you have to experiment.

I was up to 8 grams a night until I woke up and went to the bathroom right away.

Every issue I had... IBS, Chron's, whatever was completely gone within 7 days.... It was like a light switch was flipped... It was like my guts were suddenly completely numb.

That's still to this day... If I eat something I'm not supposed to, I will know it, but I also still use Ginger and Onions all the time in lots of recipes...

You could try just cooking up some Onions with Ginger and add it to whatever he eats and see if that works.

The Magic isn't the Rice or Lentils, it's the Ginger / Onion... The Rice and Lentils were just for bulk so I could go to the bathroom every morning...

Good Luck!

Aaron
