Difficulty Swallowing Supplements

Posted by Catherine (New Hampshire, US) on 02/26/2015

Having had several bouts of bladder and breast cancer, and now LPR, I swallow up words of 20 capsules and hard pills daily.

Lately I've been crushing the hard pills in a spice grinder and throwing in the capsules and blending them along with my fruit and veggie smoothie. Is this okay or am I harming myself? Thank you.

C: In the recent past when I experienced difficulty swallowing pills, that's when I knew my thyroid had bottomed out.

Try the fallowing nutrients to support your thyroid and see if you can swallow correctly once again: Iodine, Selenium, Tyrosine, Zinc Lozenge.

Also, you may have an overgrowth of candida as to your med history of compromised immunity (cancer).

Catherine;

Re ... taking your vitamins in a drink

You ask if your method of taking your vitamins in a blend is a problem. No I think not, having taken 30 to 40 per day myself for decades. The fact is the group mixes in the stomach anyway if taken in groups so what is the difference? Your way is just more efficient and easier.

Keep up the fight sister.

I take 20 to 40 vitamins/minerals pills a day plus, often powdered vitamin 'C', 6 to 16 grams a day.

All are important. Taking the ground up pills in liquified fruits is an excellent way, for fruits have many important nutrients that make the pills more effective. I have been taking vitamins/minerals for 52 years. No colds, flu, diseases, doctors, drug or any health problems at 83 years.
