Diminished Sense of Smell After Sinus Infection and Antibiotics

Posted by Jeff (Reynoldsburg, OH) on 09/02/2018

End of May 18, I noticed my food was tasting different. It kept getting worse so in the middle of June I went to see the doctor and he gave me an antibiotic for a sinus infection. It didn't work so he gave me another antibiotic and the sinus infection went away. My food still didn't taste right and my sense of smell was slowly getting worse. I went to an ENT who scoped both nostrils and didn't see anything. He told me to take Flonase. He said it could take up to a month to work but I may never get my sense of smell back. I haven constant congestion in my nose but it never runs. Is there anything else I can do?

Hi Jeff,

In the case of constant congestion 1 drop of tea tree oil 3-4 times a day in nostrils will help. Do not swallow oil if any. Hope it helps with smell.

Good luck
