Dog May Have Auto Immune Problem Or Candida

Posted by Max (Southern Australia) on 03/22/2015

Hi Bill and all contributors, great work guys, love your work. Bill you're a champion. Can I ask a question labour our little jack Russell, at 7 years old he event blind. We went to specialis vet and were told that the eyes work fine and that there is probably no tumour in the brain. The specialist said that the problem was at the receptors but he could not see what the problem was. He said that this sometimes happens, which to me is professional speak for, sorry we have no idea!

I have been reading through this blog with great interest re various matters in particular beating candida. It occurred to me that perhaps the dog has a candida infection. He apparently has an auto immune issue, possibly lupus. In any case I suspect a treatment by turps would not hurt. The dog is a monstrous eater so I suspect something is robbing his nutrients, hence the excessive hunger.

Reading I see bovine colostrum would be good also for improving the immune system. I am guessing that first the turps treatment for a number of weeks followed by colostrum at the end of main turps treatment.

I'd be interested to hear anyone's comments on this, particularly yours Bill. cheers

Hey Max!

NOT Bill but my comments as follows:

There JRT breed is predisposed for many eye issues and blindness: Progressive retinal degeneration ( PRD ) /also known as progressive retinal atrophy ( PRA ). The eyes of these dogs may appear normal until they are in the later stages of the disease.

Your veterinary ophthalmologist should be able to determine the cause of your dog's blindness - it certainly is curious that he saw nothing amiss, unless the disease in the eye is not in the later stages.

Hi Max --- at any rate, nightly put cold pressed castor oil on your dog's eyes. I do my own eyes that way and if a pet reaches 9 winters, they get it five out of seven days. It is also called Palma Christie by Edgar Cayce. I think it may be parasites and your ideas on treatment are very good.
