What Can I Do for My Dog With Licking Granuloma?
My dog Bailey has been licking his elbow and developed licking granuloma. The vet said it probably would never heal. We've been through one round of antibiotics, but it didn't do anything for him. It has swollen, become infected and bleeds constantly. I'm trying to keep it dry, but a bandage there is hard to keep on. It doesn't look to have pus, but does ooze a reddish-tinted fluid in one spot in particular, along with red, raw spots. I've tried cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and keeping it covered to keep the blood off my carpet (and bed). I've read about the apple cider vinegar, but where can you purchase that and would it be ok to use on something like this?

My big dog has a similar complaint . I use turmeric powder to help dry up the leakage and later massage with coconut oil or castor oil.
To cover the wound you could try a cotton sock, foot part cut so the heel is still attached and take a long shoe lace or anything soft and sling this around neck/chest attached to the sock part. Insert soft gauze for comfort. First dry the wound with turmeric powder and later massage the oils into the elbow. He may have to wear a cone for a while.

Thanks so much for the response! I will look to see where I can find Tumeric powder. After cutting up 2-3 pair of my own socks, I bought some to help keep him from licking the bandage off. lol But hadn't thought of the shoelaces. Hate to put a cone on him, but if that's what it takes. Also bathed it in diluted ACV and added some of that to his water. Might have to change back to regular water for a while though, my cats drink from the same bowls and don't want them to get too much of it in one day. Would it be good to bathe my dog and use ACV as a rinse for overall skin issues? He's constantly "itchy" and allergic to flea bites. He nor the cats have fleas now, but in the spring/summer one bite will have him itching and scratching for days on end. Again, appreciate the response. Have a wonderful holiday!

Yes, ACV is always good for a rinse or as a 50/50 spray throughout the day as it will kill fleas.
Internally daily tablesp. flaked nutritional yeast. This will take some time but it will make the blood unpalatable for blood suckers. Other wise I use neem oil well massaged into the skin. It improves the immune system when given as the powder in caps. and makes the fur (hair) grow, as well it is a repellant. Just look it up online. Generally, the itch problem is universal and can have the roots in commercial food in my opinion. Do not forget to give coconut oil or hemp seed oil over the food. Give lots of raw ground veggies and carrots for the vit. A for the skin.
