Need Help for Edema Behind Eye

Posted by Pam B. (New Zealand) on 03/26/2024

Hi, I saw the Eye Specialist this morning and he found the edema behind my eye had grown larger since last October. He wants me to take Voltarin in the hopes it will reduce it. I am 83, take no meds and am loathe to take this Voltarin. He doesn't know if it will work but says its first choice, which means more the same if it doesn't. Not happy about this at all, wondered if a caster oil poultice overnight might help. Or should I go for an anti-inflammatory diet. Any advice would be much appreciated as have enough on my plate being primary carer for my husband who had a bad stroke. Many thanks. Pam B. NZ

Hi Pam,

I was wondering if you are also having headaches and or migraines because these two can cause increased pressure at the back of the eyes?

Pam, I wouldn't hesitate to try Castor Oil.

Grated organic potato poultice eye mask. No herbs or oils or any additives. Just the potato. Grate it up onto the middle of a full sized papertowel, fold one long side over, then the other side then the ends. Make two and put them over the eyes with the single layer of the bundle on the eyelid. It's quite a bit bigger than your eye but you want it all around the eye, as well. Put an eye mask over it and take a nap.

Or, if you want, you can mix activated charcoal with a little olive oil so that it's super black and smear some on the eyelid and around the eyes and put on some big sunglasses, if you want.

Swelling is easy. Potato or charcoal - without anything else. If you add other stuff to it, it will either take longer or it just won't work. First things first, with swelling: Get the swelling down and the infection/inflammation out. You don't need all that other crap but if you just can't help yourself, then wait until you get the swelling down and any infection that might be hiding in it out. No "medicine" required.
