Multiple Eye Issues - Need Help to Keep Driving Elderly Parent Around

Posted by Wieas (London, UK) on 11/25/2021

I have just been for my yearly eye test and I'm looking for some help with several problems the optician has raised with me.

Firstly, I'm apparently in the early stages of getting cataracts in both eyes. So that is the first thing I would like to get under control. I would rather avoid having surgery when they get worse.

Next, I also have raised eye pressure.

Lastly, and this is something that has concerned me for a few years now. When I have to do the visual field test I sometimes fail it. Luckily they allow me to try again until I pass.

As a bit of background, for over 10 years now I have stopped driving at night due to struggling with seeing where I'm going. As a carer, I rely on having the use of my car to transport my elderly parent around and I'm worried they may take my licence away if I can't find a way to improve my vision.

So, what I'm basically asking you knowledgeable people for is any recommendations that will improve my eyesight. Are there any vitamins/supplements or anything else that will help me? I'm 60 years old. Thank you.

Wieas, applying castor oil on closed eyes - on eyelash line - at night before sleep, seems to keep cataracts at bay for a few years now. And I'm not always consistent...

I have extreme dry eye and apply this on my eyelids and even a drop inside my eye morning and night. This is from health food store The Palma Christi Castor Oil, be sure it's Hexane-free! Which means no chemicals whatsoever, it's pure. It's been known to help with cataracts, also my mother had macular degeneration, so I use this as a preventative. I just gave some to a friend having eye troubles and she said her eyes are so much better from it.

You can buy this online from amazon and am sure other places.

Look into Can-C Eyedrops. There are many reports of people and dogs whose cataracts cleared up and overall vision improved after using them. There are vitamins made specifically for the eyes made by the same company as well.

Avoid seed oils. Rather use butter and coconut oil for cooking, olive oil for salads. Take 6mg/day of zeaxanthin, which can also include lutein and bilberry. Following a low sugar diet will help too. Preferably prepare your own meals, since processed and fast foods contain too much unhealthy fats and sugars, and glucose-fructose / high fructose corn syrup.

There is an optometrist in the US who recommends his brand of eye drops to treat cataracts, MSM and saline I believe. I think there is also a lady doctor who recommends the MSM with colloidal silver drops. Also, LED red light therapy supposed to help. If I may, I'll post these two links. One suggests 3 min. a week; other, 3 min. a day.

get your fresh u'rine and put a drop in each eye. I diluted my 10 drops of u'rine with 2-3 drops of DMSO to transport it into the eye..

"Urine therapy or urotherapy" ... yes your urine can perform miracles.

Zega, urine has been my go-to for eye irritations and infections. I am interested in using it daily or maybe less if I don't remember to do it daily. What improvements did you experience?

Hello, something that worked like a charm for my elderly mom's eye pressure is Life Extensions "Eye Pressure Support with Mirtogenol" Brought her eye pressure down better than the dangerous drops the doctor had prescribed. Her pressure went to completely normal! I don't remember how long it took, but it wasn't too very long.

While these natural aids may help your eyes, I highly recommend a checkup with an ophthalmologist first. I just had cataract surgery and inner corneal transplant. I can see great. My cataract was turning the world yellowish from the clouding. But the corneal transplant was for a disease, Fuch's endothelial corneal dystrophy. There are pumper cells in your cornea that pump out the excess water from the eye. In Fuch's dystrophy, those cells start to die, and your eye pressure builds. It can destroy your eye. Just saying, check out the medical too. I have the same disease in the other eye and they will fix that one in the spring.

I just got surgery, 15 minutes. Caught very early, my follow up with doctor this week. This is one area I was not going to wait on - the longer one waits - let's just say not good. Supplements will assist not reserve your present situation.
