Family Has Thick Hair Except Me

Posted by T.leela (New York, New York) on 10/27/2009

HELP!! I am a 27yr old female suffering from HAIRLOSS. I have seen countless doctors and none of them give me hope. My family all has thick hair including my 65yr old parents. I have been to every specialist and they all give me minoxidil and spironolactone, however neither has helped the regrowth. Below is my most recent biopsy which was VERY painful and my doctors response was "ready for a hair transplant!" Again I am 27 and female and I am desperately seeking help. I am unable to interpret the below and was hoping someone could help. I would give anything to have my hair back to the way it was 5 yrs ago. Thoughts? Advice? Help?!?

Clinical information
1. 2mm punch. Mid inf. Scalp frontal submitted for DIF, B. 4mm punch mid frontal superior scalp: A, B:/Female pattern hair loss, autoimmune hairloss. 704.00. IDX mc

Diagnoses:
A. skin, mid inferior scalp frontal, submitted for5 DIF:Ã¥
- Positive lupus band test of IgM isotype

Comment (specimen a):
There is a fairly striking deposition of IgM along the dermal-epidermal junction and as well there is staining within the epithelium for IgA, IgM and IgG essentially defining a very immunoreactant profile. This profile is not dissimilar to other cases of androgenetic alopecia

2. Skin, mid frontal superior scalp:
- Non-scarring alopecia consistent with androgenetic alopecia

Comment (specimen b):
The findings are those of a fairly advances state of non-scarring alopecia. I would tend to favor a diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia. There is one terminal hair unit however that suggests the possibility of alopecia areata although I do not see frank lymphocyctic bulbitis. I am curious to know if in fact this patent has and clinical features of alopecia areata. If indeed the clinical presentation is more in keeping with common baldness I would interpret the process as an inflammatory immunogenic variant of androgenetic alopecia, especially given the very impressive immunoflurescent profile. We will destain slide B1 (D4-6) to see if we can actually identify any lymphocytes permeating the bulbar epithelium

Microscopic description
Direct immunofluorescent studies have been performed on specimen A, the results of which are as follows:

IgG: There is 1-2/3 fine granular staining of epidermal keratinocytes within the epidermis and hair follicle
IgA: There is a fairly intense granular staining in the sebocytes and other root sheath of a hair follicle as well as 1-2/3 fine granular staining of epidermal keratinocytes
IgM: There is a continuous band of 3/3 granular staining along the dermal-epidermal junction as well as 3/3 granular staining within the basement membrane zone of the hair follicle
C3: significant immunoreactivity is not identified
C3d: there is an interrupted band of 1-2/3 fine granular staining along the dermal-epidermal junction and within the follicular basement membrane zone
C4d: negative

There is an average normal number of anagen hair follicles however they appear shorter and thinner. There is a superficial and mild perivascular and slightly perifolliclar infiltrate predominantly of lymphocytes. PAS stain fails to reveal fungal hyphae or a thickened basement membrane. There are yeasts of Pityrosporum on the epidermal surface

I have a woman with a severe hair loss. The remedy really stopped it, was the manganese sulfate. The dose was about 200 mg taken twice a day for about 5 days. The hair loss stopped within 2 days and completely on the fourth or fifth day. Manganese sulfate, I have to buy from a chemical suppliers because the tablet form sold in health food store contain additives, which block their absorption. The manganese will not work if a person suffers from depression and weakness, which is also a sign of tin deficiency. However, this doesn't happen often but does occur if the manganese supplements don't work. Sometimes hair mineral analysis may give clues. In case a person suffers constipation or bowel movement less than 2 times a day, then digestive enzymes are low and autotoxicity is the issue. In which case I will likely to take the digestive enzyme before meals, and during meals, which may total about 6 capsules. Once the excess protein is digested with digestive enzyme, the body's hormones do not get blocked by fats where lipase breaks it down so that hormones naturally produced, will also stop the hair loss.

The autoimmunity I am using as my protocol I currently using humic acid, iodine and turmeric with good successes. Therefore, if hair loss is due to autoimmunity, then humic acid powder 1/8 teaspoon twice a day, plus, 2 drops of lugols and 2 drops of SSKI once a day, and one tablespoon of turmeric three times a day. That's my basic autoimmunity remedy. The other one I sometimes use is the borax remedy, which is 1/8 teaspoon of borax in one liter of drinking water to be drank throughout the day. The borax increases the body's natural hormones, such that some told me it has some viagra effects, for both men and women.

Ted. I am located in NYC and am having a horrible time finding any of the suggestions you mentioned. I dont see any of these for human consumption. (manganese sulfate, digestive enzymes, humic acid, iodine, turmeric, lugols, SSKI and borax) Can you point me in the right direction on where to find these? Thank you

Any additional info would be helpful since I cannot find the list you supplied:

> manganese sulfate (GLC 2000 Capsules (Human Use Only) - 240/bottle?)

> digestive enzymes (pills?)

> humic acid (Avirol? cannot find for human consumption))

> iodine (liquid?)

> turmeric (extract? powder? spice?)

> lugols (liquid iodine? solution?)

> SSKI (potassium iodide? liquid?)

> borax (baking soda? cannot find borax except bleach? cannot find for human consmption)

Are these powders? liquids? etc.
Thank you!

Leela:

> manganese sulfate (GLC 2000 Capsules (Human Use Only) - 240/bottle?)

Must be grounded to a powder, but maybe minimally useful. I prefer a pure form, since they sometimes add those calcium phosphate and stearates to prevent their absorption.

> digestive enzymes (pills?)

Capsules.

> humic acid (Avirol? cannot find for human consumption))

I used the powdered ones, with good certificate of analysis, regardless if it's human or livestocks, or nursery shops. It seems to work better for some reason or another in nursery shops. I always make physical examination and analysis papers. It's more safer that way at least for me.

> iodine (liquid?)

Lugol's solution has both iodine and potassium iodide all in one bottle.

> turmeric (extract? powder? spice?)

Curcumin works the best, the next best is extract or powder. If I can't get those, then spice. In any event, most are ok.

> lugols (liquid iodine? solution?)

solution.

> SSKI (potassium iodide? liquid?)

potassium iodide is better on account I can mixed it with the lugol's solution (10% potassium iodide), but liquid is also acceptable.

> borax (baking soda? cannot find borax except bleach? cannot find for human consmption)

Borax is usually available in U.S. as 10 mule team is the ones most used. In thailand i buy from a drug store, pharma grade.

Are these powders? liquids? etc.

Borax is always powder and has many names, the ones with a hydrate name dissolves better in water.

Hi, I am a 20 year old male and have been suffering from hair loss for the last 3 years. I am sure that it is MPB so I am asking for help. Can anyone recommend a regimen that is proven to work against MPB? Also, I have head that using a boar bristle brush can help regrow hair. Is that true? There is also a guy who is gaining popularity on the internet named Edwin Diaz who had good results in his fight against MPB and he says he used herbs. I haven't really checked out his regimen as I thought I would rather ask for help here, but has anyone checked out his regimen by chance? Does it seem like it may be effective? Maybe someone here has used it? Any form of help is appreciated. It's making life hard since I'm still really young for this to be happening. Please help!

I have had good success with low level laser therapy. There are clinics that have lasers for hair regrowth but it can get expensive. I used a laser therapy pen 100mw 660nm and it helped a bald spot in the front of my head grow back. Something like 20min /day of laser therapy stimulates the hair to grow back.
