Gastroparesis or Something Else?
Our young family member (23) is still unable to eat or drink after being diagnosed by Mayo as gastroparesis. Now they're not so sure. She's suffering from 'slow gastric emptying', 'slow colonic transit', and has been told her colon is basically 'asleep'. More tests are suggested but she's unable to swallow the necessary liquid prior to the tests without regurgitating it all. She's now seeing a homeopathic doctor since MDs haven't been much help. Has anyone suffered from symptoms like this, recommendations of anyone who has been able to help?

Hi Marsh,
It would be worth her asking her doctor if she can try ginger root capsules and magnesium citrate simultaneously. Both can help stimulate the digestive system and the ginger root capsules can help to normalize the digestive system. I have used the following to good effect :

Art, if you trim your links at the question mark (incl. the question mark) you will remove the stuff that snoops on us and make your links manageable.

Art, I just found out our 23 yr old is badly constipated. She was given 5 enemas by the hospital, and nothing. She's being fed by a tube... Any thought/recommendations would be appreciate. Many thanks.

Hi Marsh,
Since they tried 5 enemas and those didn't work, they now need to do a thorough abdominal examination looking for distention, tenderness, rigidity, masses and bowel sounds. A digital rectal exam would also be useful to see if there is a stool buildup or impaction at or near the rectum that they can manually dislodge.
They will have to rule out whether there is a structural bowel obstruction. They will have to go through her medications to determine if any of them might be causing or contributing to her severe constipation.
Once 5 enemas failed to get things moving, the hospital should have looked further for potential causes and a reassessment of her situation should be done. If there is a structural blockage, surgery may be considered.
This is no longer a situation where supplements are a consideration any more.

Hi Vera,
I replied to you once, but my reply didn't appear. So I will try again. Thank you very much for the useful information on being able to shorten my links! Sometime EC shortens my links automatically and sometimes not. So your information is very useful for me. You taught me something useful today!

Dear Marsh,
https://ubiehealth.com/doctors-note/gut-peristalsis-stalls-medically-approved-steps-3723e4
Here is a great list of causes of slow to no peristalsis. If they find no blockage look at something she has been taking, meds or other. If no blockages.Electrical stimulation with Acupuncture may be your best option to reestablish Gut/Brain connection.
For sluggish to no peristalsis, acupuncture can be effective, particularly using points like ST25 (Tianshu), which is known to help restore intestinal movement. Other useful points include ST36, SJ6, and LI4, which can also promote bowel function and relieve constipation symptoms.

Hello Marsh,
Severe, chronic Thiamine/B1 deficiency has become quite a real & surprising medical issue in the US and it causes GASTROPARESIS. Many Gastroenterologists now include B1 Testing because it is prevalent. Dr Peter Osbourne, speaks a lot about this deficiency and offers accurate nutritional testing as do some other physicians. Make sure they are covering this base since there can be so many other causes under the radar like pinworms/parasite, Long-Cov, diet/fiber/hydration, etc..... Hope your child recovers soon. Will probably need to see a 'holistic' practitioner. Sherri

Give castor oil packs a try you will have to order on amazon or other queen of thrones site for ex. Will need pure cotton or wool but dr barbara oneill has great advice for this as well on her you tube channel. Basically you wear it on tummy or over the liver at night with a good amount of castor oil applied and also can apply heat pad to further assist as castor oil is a deep penetrating healing oil look up and research its amazing. Has taken away lumps from under my skin and also helps with constipation put a few drops in belly button at night. Blessings!
