Hair Shedding From Chlorinated Tap Water in Florida

Ok, I'm in Florida & the city water here has high concentrations of chlorine. As a result I am shedding hair, too much of it. I've heard that topical iodine may be a remedy. Can anyone shed some light on this, I am getting desperate. Thank you.

RMK,

I also had an issue with hair shedding due to chlorine or actually cholorimide (which is a combo of chlorine and ammonia municipalities now use in water supplies.) What I found to work for my hair loss was borax dissolved in water used instead of shampoo. I had had to stop using commercial shampoo and the borax solution was a great substitute. It also cleared up the rosacea on my forehead. I also added iodine to my diet, and had started on Ted's borax protocol. Borax helps to neutralize chlorine. It did take a few months for me to really notice a difference. One day I just noticed my hair was fuller. Vit B7(Biotin) is also good for hair loss, added to the iodine and borax protocol.

Simple, really.....

Whole-house filter, preferably. If that is not affordable for you, at least a shower filter. Easy to find and very affordable. Also, properly purified water for drinking, cooking, etc Stop exposure at the source.

Get a water filter that removes contaminants.. zero water will work, I would not suggest you keep using it because you need some minerals in the water. There is a company called "Just Water" that produces a quality filter that is not expensive. you wll need to purchase 2 five gallon buckets, food grade and 2 lids. to set up your filter... to remove drug contaminants and flourides from water tell the man who answers the phone you need something for city water.

Iodine might help,

Zinc lozenge is more likely to help hair loss. and quickly.( within 2 weeks).. lozenge is absorbed through the skin of mouth, thus takes effect quickly. it should taste pleasant.on brand name is cold eze. generics work just as well. If it stops tasting pleasant it will develop an off taste, that means your level is high enough hold zinc lozenge for 2 days and try a half lozenge. on 3rd day...I take 3 full lozenges a month to keep my levels up... had hair loss after surgery and mal- absorption. pill forms do not absorb well for some people.

Hello, also from Sarasota. I use Castor Oil topically for hair thinning.

I heard a couple people talking about handfuls of hair falling out after using Suave Coconut shampoo.

I noticed decades ago that my hair is fuller and grows faster and healthier when I am taking whey protein concentrate (WPC).

Mornings, I wash down 1/8 level measuring cup of WPC with water.

I order a 5 pound bag or two from BulkFoods.com.

It just seems that WPC would help hair loss by growing more hair, but good luck with the chlorine.

I don't know if the WPC would overcome the chlorine by itself, but maybe your hair would rebound and recover faster by taking WPC after you solve the chlorine problem.
