2 months is way too long to be waiting for a gum to heal after an extraction. Is it possible that there is still some tooth left or that maybe there is an infection of some kind keeping it open. I think it would be worth your while to visit a doctor. Your original dentist may not admit to having made a mistake. I haven't had a tooth extracted for a long time but I remember each one vividly and they always closed after a few days. Good luck.

Tricia is correct- 2 months is way too long to wait for it to heal. However others having pain may have dry sockets. If it has been more than a week, not sooner, it is safe to use clove oil for the pain. It can be put directly into the hole. It will sting at first but feel amazingly better right away. The doctor can administer this but it is easy to do by yourself.
