Help Needed for Cat with No Appetite and Anemia

Posted by Zuzu (Fort Worth, Texas) on 07/28/2015

Hello, I just discovered this post today. 2 weeks ago, my sweet gray tabby who is 14 acted like she might have a bit of a cold, no runny nose, just not feeling like herself. She has always been healthy, never been sick and is an indoor kitty. She was eating well and had a good appetite. I did not have a vet so I chose one and checked out their reviews. I took her to this vet who told me that she just had a bit of a bug, that she would be better in a few days. The vet gave her an antibiotic shot of Convenia (given instead of pills) and a dose of Mitrazapine to enhance hunger. I took her home and she got worse. She stopped eating completely, lost her vocal ability to meow and we have been syringe feeding her ever since. This shot Convenia has terrible side effects and should not be on the market at all. There is even a Facebook page dedicated to bring awareness of the hazards of this drug. It lasts from 14-60 days in her system. She finally ate a few bites of her dry food on day 13 and drank a lot of water and seemed to be getting better. But she still doesn't really choose to eat on her own. This is day 17 and after taking her to several vets, the vet I chose says she now has anemia. He suggested giving her an antihistamine to stimulate her appetite. My kitty needs help. She has been through a lot and needs to heal. I would like to know if there are any natural products that will help her regain her appetite and are there any natural products to help fight the anemia that she has developed by not eating? Would liquid chlorophyll help? Thank you for your advice.
