What Can I Do to Help My Dog That Might Have Addison's Disease?

Posted by Tara (Suffolk, Virginia ) on 06/05/2017

I have a 5 1/2 year old american pitbull terrier. The vets want to test him for Addison's disease but white blood cell count is high which makes them think he might be in the 10% of dogs who have addison's with a high white blood cell count. I am spending hundreds of dollars in vet bills and getting no where. They have ruled out any type of parasite. He is losing weight, losing hair, vomiting and diarrhea frequently throughout the day. Barely drinking or eating, I do have him on a boiled chicken and rice diet. If anyone could help me please.

Hello Tara,

I know it seems like you are just throwing good money after bad, but you really do need a definitive diagnosis and there is a test that will confirm or rule out this condition. Read up on Addison's in dogs:

Try this google search "addison's disease dog diet" - many good links with holistic options for adrenal support. Please report back!

Hi Tara,

I notice this is an older post and was wondering about your dog and the outcome of the test. My dog has Addisons. He was diagnosed in May.
