Infected with Bacteria Causing Cellulitis At Hospital

Posted by Agnes (Warsaw) on 08/22/2015

hello, during blood test on August 15 th 2015 in a hospital I was infected with some bacteria which caused cellulitis. A doctor prescribed me cipropol. I'm taking it four and a half days now. Colour of my arm turned slightly brownish, I don't like this hue cause it doesn't seem healthy, I've got impression that some blood clots are forming now and that's why it has such a colour. I'm wondering what I can do now to speed the process of healing.

I'm taking propolis, turmeric and garlic but I think that something topical would be more advisable. I was thinking about buying Traumeel S but it contains echinacea and ironically, I read thatit is not recommended in cases of inflammatory subcutaneous diseases...

Can anybody of you tell me some advise what to do? I'm really frightened cause circumstances of getting this disease in my case were, I think particularly unfortunate - bad hygiene during blood test, hospital - a risk of MRSA and other horrible stuff and depth of this disease - syringe, vein, etc. ugh...

Dear Agnes,

Well, that is stressful (and frustrating) to be dealing with an infection contracted from a blood draw!

I think what you are doing sounds excellent and would continue. Garlic and Turmeric are great anti-biotics (I really don't know any thing about bee propolis, but when I hear of someone using it, it always sounds positive.) I have seen internal use of these things help skin issues and inflammation. You are concerned about MRSA and turmeric is something that has been used to cure it. Turmeric is also a blood purifier.

You might add some cayenne to what you are doing if you are concerned about blood clots. Either add sprinkle some on food or put a bit in some juice or water when you take your garlic and turmeric. (Perhaps 1/8th teaspoon?)

Topically, you could try charcoal poultices, or DMSO and Colloidal Silver as I believe Dave has recommended in the past.

Vitamin C is also great to take to help your immune system fight infection. One of the alkalizing formulas would also help your body be in the best state for dealing with infection.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Check out Oil of Oregano. Its powerful against pathogens and my book by Dr Cass Ingram says it can cure cellulitis. Use it topically and possibly with a carrier oil like olive Oil. Even good for MRSA, poisonous spider bites and a host of other things. Its pricey but worth its weight in goLd. Get it going!! God bless you.

Thank you both for your replies.

Dear Mama, could you tell me more about DMSO - I'm not sure whether or not it is available in Poland where I live. Is it a type of sulfur? What form does it have? When it comes to alkalizing formula - only diet does will not help? I eat a lot of radishes, sauerkraut, gherkins and try to avoid sugar and sweets. I'm on antibiotic - Polish generic of Proxacin - Cipropol but I expected more visible effects - maybe the type of bacteria is not corelated with this medicament, I don't know. What makes me unhappy the most is the fact that I can't normally sleep through the night because of painful swelling and my hand becomes weak very fast after different house activities. Several doctors recommended sodium bicarbonate compresses but they dry my skin out and I wonder if activated charcoal won't deepen this problem. I put activated charcoal poultice when I noticed first symptoms of cellulitis but I had an impression that a layer of plastic makes my hand hotter. Did you ever try this poultice without plastic? How your son feel this routine with charcoal? I've read here that he is a redhead and I have very sensitive skin too.Dear Mama, do you know whether activated charcoal is good for lymphanginitis which is one of symptoms of cellulitis? Do you have any experience with using fenugreek cause I'm constantly in two minds about all of the methods able to cure me.

I don't have much experience with applying essential oils, I'm wondering what type of dilution to make in order not to burn skin. Can it be mixed with some cream instead of oil? Thank you for your care.

Dear Agnes,

Well, I don't know a lot about DMSO. Robert Henry and Dave have a lot more experience with it. I bought some at a farm supply store and have only used it a couple of times so far.

Yes, I think that some people are properly alkalized with their diets alone. I just know many are not, and that acidity seems to make conditions worse.

We have seen the plastic layer with a poultice make the area feel hotter. And yes, we have left that off. It is only there to protect clothing and also maintain moisture. But, you can just remoisten the poultice as needed, or change it. And by all means, if intuition recommends against it, don't use it. My red heads have not had trouble with the poultices, by the way.

Essential oils could be mixed with lotion. Tea tree, lavender and frankincense are all pretty mild and don't need a lot of dilution. Any of those, a few drops in a 1/2 teaspoon of lotion would be plenty diluted for most people.

I do not know for sure if charcoal would work for lymphangitis. But we have seen it help infection and inflammation of many types.

I have not used fenugreek for much. Maybe a tea for a cough a few times?

Is your problem getting worse? better? If it gets worse, or you notice red streaks coming from the inflamed area or have fever, I would consider further medical attention/evaluation.

After I read your posts today I remembered having success using hydrotherapy for a skin infection. It may be quite soothing and helpful to your skin.

You would get two large bowls or something you could fit the entire inflamed area into. In one bowl, put warm water (not hot). In the other bowl put cool water. (not cold). You would alternate soaking the affected area in each. 30-60 seconds in cool, then 30-60 seconds in warm, repeat until you have done seven soaks. (Finish with cool. This may sound too simplistic for a serious condition, but we have seen it work shockingly well.

You could even add a few Tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate to each bowl, as some have suggested sodium bicarbonate to you? Or Epsom Salt. But even just the water helps. This can be done even hourly.

Here is some more information about charcoal and hydrotherapy for cellulitis Cellulitis Stories

Keep me posted! I hope you feel much better soon!

Dear Mama,

My hand is better when it comes to pain - it ceased, I hope forever :). But colour is still too far from beig healthy and rash from using sodium bicarbonate is still present. I'm still eating a lot of turmeric and garlic and think about buying Serrapeptase. What do you think about it? I've also read about topical usage of goldenseal mixed with slippery elm but I'm notsure whether it is available in drugstores here.

Do you have any experience with applying calendula or yarrow topically as an antiflammatory agent? Could you imagine that today I wokeup with slighly swollen and red warm leg?

Maybe this cellulitis is something systemic in my body and does not affectonly one part of body? I feel that because of my sensitive skin I would have to cope with it from time to time.

Do you use for your some store-bought cream or just home-made?

Dear Agnes,

I am so happy to hear that your pain has improved.

I know of Serrapeptase for dissolving scar tissue but do not have much experience with it.

Goldenseal and slippery elm are both wonderful if you can get some. I have used them both internally and externally with good results.

I have used calendula and chamomile topically for inflammation and infection. I have made topicals with these ingredients and have seen them for sale but would have no idea if you would have that available near you and could be sure of high quality.

That is concerning that you woke up with your leg showing some symptoms. Have you begun to treat it? How much turmeric and garlic are you taking? Do you have a follow up appointment with your health care provider?

Another remedy to look in to would be Manuka Honey, by the way.

Hi, has anyone experienced mucus so thick that you don't have cough reflex (tissus?) and you have to force it to clear out your throat and larynx? When I have a common cold it always ends up with laryngitis or bronchial infection. Even though I drink a lot (water, ginger tea) l have to literally stay on head and make other strange physical poses to get rid of phlegm. It is very frustrating and I feel as if I had cystic fibrosis.

Also, regarding cherry hemangioma - anybody removed it in a safe but less invasive method than laser or surgery? Maybe I'm naive but perhaps there is another method, some cream?

EC: Dear Agnes,

Salt thins out mucus secretions. Drinking lots of water, without adding salt, decreases salt in body.

Recently got sinus issues on one side of my head , very rare. Sneezing ...then next day , mucus, headache, nose drip , and then ear crackling sounds. Wow ...sucked. Next morning added a nice cough to the mix.

Had some apple cider vinegar with the mother. I tried 1 tsp with 1/4 tsp honey in 6 oz of water .....all symptoms stopped within half an hour. Symptoms returned later....took another dose.

Three days still using as needed with complete symptom relief after each use for 4-6 hrs or so, sleep like a baby

Agnes, for the phlegm you can try:

1. Bill Munro's h2o2 inhalation method. Read up on it right here on EC.

2. Old fashioned tea (we use rose hip/hibiscus) with lots of lemon and real honey, is usually very helpful.

Could be a yeast infection. Definitely anti-fungals.
