Is DMSO Safe if I Have a Hip Replacement?

Posted by Lydia (Vancouver, Bc) on 05/20/2016

I have been using MMS and also just started some DMSO - Made my eyes feel way better - 40% one drop each eye every day and on my body. But I just got to thinking that with the metal and plastic in my Lt hip joint perhaps it is better not to use this. I am sorry about this - I really did not want to have the replacement done but my children encouraged me and it has been a good joint since. But these are the considerations to think of when I am not entirely organic!!! I am an 82 year old grandmother in good health. I have read extensively on DMSO. I have not heard anyone mention this.

Just discovered this site and am so pleased with it. Thanks all.

I had breast cancer in 2012 resulting in chemo (I have never been the same since putting this poison in my body.) and a double mastectomy. I was 45 and my vanity led me to reconstructive surgery, meaning I have silicone breast implants. I can't say I fully regret it but I do have real concerns. I also have a screw in my ankle from a break that was healing badly, psoriatic arthritis and degenerative disc disease. It seems like DMSO would be a miracle for me, but the implants and the screw could be an issue. What would be your best advice? The arthritis in particular is greatly decreasing my quality of life at this point and I don't like taking pharmaceuticals. I am taking Turmeric and Glucosamine.

Eileen,

I have psoriatic arthritis (PA) that was severe, but taking borax has managed to put the PA into remission and keep it there for well over decade. It might be worth considering if you haven't already tried it. I believe it may help with the DDD also in some people. If not there is always the hyaluronic acid remedy here on EC. I tried dozens and dozens of remedies for the PA with various results, but borax has left me symptom free for many many years.

Thank you so much for your reply Art. I actually ordered some Boron yesterday. Is Borax a better alternative?

Eileen,

I took boron from 3 to 36 mg and at 3 mg it did nothing and at 36 mg it still did nothing, but in a friend who had severe RA, it worked quite well at 36 mg/day.

On the other hand, just taking a 1/4 teaspoon per day of Borax in a liter of water is the ticket for me. Based on Ted's remedy, women would take 1/8 teaspoon in a quart of water. Cost wise Borax costs about a penny per day. I figured it out one time and I think it cost around $1 per year for men and about $.50 for women. I think taking a boron supplement can work, but it will cost more and you will be getting a lot of filler and gelatin capsules along with your boron.

I sometimes suggest boron to people who do not tolerate borax.

Borax contains 11.3% boron. I take approximately 950 mgs of Borax for each weekday and take weekends off. The 950 mgs x .113 = 107.35 mg of boron. 107.35 / 2 = 53.675 mg of boron for women. Some people are able to get by with less, but I was not one of those people.

Borax does much more than just fight different types of arthritis and I highly recommend you read EC's Borax page to help you make your decision :

I should also mention that you should not expect results overnight. Generally if you allow 3~4 months, that should be adequate. I started to see benefit within the first month, but for me, full remission took longer. Good luck and let us know how you do.
