Dear Rick,

If your body handles gelcaps and borax fine by themselves, it would seem fine to do what you are doing. Perhaps a reason it is cautioned against is because you are taking borax in a more concentrated way than those who dilute the borax in water. If you are taking it with food, you are diluting it with something. If you ever take it apart from a meal, I would be sure to take it with a glass of water.

Thanks for the reply Mama, it's much appreciated. I will continue to take 1/4 tbs borax in gelcaps.

I am taking borax for rosacea and hopefully to raise my libido.

I just want to make sure that it is fine and it will work the same in gelcaps rather than with water.

If anyone else wants to weigh in on this issue, that would be great!

I think that is an excellent idea. Experience has taught me over the years that it is tough to stick with any modality that is unpleasant. Drinking borax and water certainly falls in that realm.

The only caveat I would be concerned with is having enough water in the stomach for the length of time it takes for the gelcap to dissolve.

While I don't normally advocate drinking cold water, this would be an exception. The pyloric sphincter valve at the bottom of the stomach (going into small intestine) will not open until liquids reach body temperature. Drinking cold water should help to insure that the water remains in the stomach long enough to dissolve the gelcaps.
