Knee Pain Only At Night

Posted by Mary (Usa) on 01/12/2018

At night my knees are painful, but during the day my knees are perfect. It actually begins as soon as I get into bed. I had sciatica there are no knots in the butt region but it has left my knees very painful. I never take drugs, have used vinegar, castor oil packs, mag oil, the list goes on. I cannot figure what is going on?

I have not tried the DMSO, castor oil, and mag oil all at once and all over the lower portion of the body. I have tried DMSO and Castor oil, mag oil on knees only. It worked for a few hrs only and I was up putting more on.

I too fell, on a large pointed rock 2 yrs ago and landed right on my sciatic nerve.

Currently I am using mag oil+ CS wrapping knees in knee support bandages at night.

During the day, for 1 hour, I am using my old stand by PEMF machine. It has worked 3 nights now.

Mary,

This may sound too simple, but I have grown suspicious that my pillowtop mattress is the culprit. It is several years old and there is a large dip on one side. I started having trouble with my left knee and hip after I bought this mattress. I have had sciatica in the past, so I know the sensations. The longer I stay in bed, the worse it gets. My thought is that I am now out of alignment and it is causing numbness, pain and discomfort. I don't believe in pharmaceuticals. I take homeopathic tinctures that help.

Thank you, Barbara. I have thought of that so every month I move the mattress upside down, turn over, etc.

Like I said I am trying to put mag. oil mixed with c/s and wrap in a bandage and using PEMF machine. So far this is the third day and working.

Hello Mary,

You have probably checked out the Knee Section on this Site already? Really good stuff there! Many fellow sufferers there, waxing eloquently on varied knee issues.

There are several things you can try and some you are doing already.

I recently wrote about the "Russian Remedy for Arthritis and Rheumatism" in that section and also experimented with Castor Oil poultice wraps. These poultices are a tad messy but they can be extremely effective, especially if you can be organized enough to leave them on overnight for (say) four nights in a row. Oh, and yes, you take it off during the day and put a fresh one on each night! Oh dear!

If you are overweight, this will put quite a lot of extra pressure on the knees obviously and nothing is going to improve until that is addressed.

One other trick I learnt, was to place an extra pillow either under the knee if lying on my back, OR between the knees if lying on my side (with the affected knee on the top).

My knees seem to be getting more knobbly as I get older and so they no longer like each other in bed. The only answer seems to be an amicable separation in the boudoir!

A knee support bandage of the stretchy variety is often very effective. You can get a lot of sympathy for a while, when people see you wearing one of those, at least until they reckon you are faking it and doing a "Hollywood"!

In the meantime there are some very effective creams around and my all-time favourite is "Soothe Cream" made by (You Know Who) of "B" Laboratories and, no, I don't get the commission darn it.

Good luck with the knee.

Cheers,

Michael

Dear Barbara and Mary,

Did you ever try opening the capsule to take the turmeric? Capsules alone cause me joint stiffness & sciatica. When testing for capsules was done over a couple decades ago it was found that capsules contained 11-14 mg. of manufactured glutamic acid (hidden source of MSG). MSG is a nerve stimulant. It is a consequence in the manufacture of the capsule. Some are larger nowadays.
