Long-Term Antibiotic Use

Posted by Debbie (West Bend, WI) on 11/16/2024

20 years antibiotics for acne.

I am very sensitive due to the above, want to know if anyone has ever been on antibiotics this long. Any kind of small trauma sends me into a tailspin of no sleeping or eating, and then I end up on terrible anti-anxiety meds. First time this happened was due to a digestive enzyme, 2nd time flu, 3rd & 4th time general anxiety and 5th (current time) a virus. I am very sick on 3 different anti-anxiety meds causing terrible stomach issues. My understanding is the antibiotics stuck me into flight or fight and immune system week. Currently trying to do Dynamic Neural Training System (DNRS) to change my brain neuroplasticity. Looking for prayers in Jesus name, and anything gentile that might help. fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivies, fear, constipation, MCAS, vulvadynia. thank you,

Hi Debbie,

An Earth Clinic member (Helen) said she got very good fibromyalgia pain relief from melatonin lotion (ML) that exceeded all of the prescription fibromyalgia prescriptions she had tried without their side effects :

https://www.earthclinic.com/supplements/topical-melatonin-pain-relief-success-stories.html

Here is what she said about ML for fibromyalgia pain :

' So I tried the link you shared and they said that Melatonin powder is not allowed to be shipped to Canada plus many other countries. So I went ahead and used the capsules I had purchased. The additional ingredients in these capsules are gelatin, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin and microcrystaline cellulose. When I googled these ingredients I saw that they are also in skin care products so I decided to go ahead and make the melatonin lotion recipe with the capsules, to be clear the capsules have the powder in them. There were 90 capsules in the bottle which equaled 900mg of melatonin. '

This is the recipe that I used which I adjusted down to work with 900mg of melatonin:

900mg melatonin (90-10mg capsules)

1.35 oz (40ml) gin

2.25 oz (66.5ml) lotion

I added the gin to the powder and it did not dissolve completely but it may have if I added more, I just assumed that the other ingredients perhaps did not dissolve in the gin. I then added the lotion and mixed it well. It is a bit grainy in texture but goes on smooth and absorbs great.

' Now the good news, it works!!! I have fibromyalgia and I am always getting new pains and some go after a while and some stick around and are so bad I can't sleep. My newest pains were in my neck, shoulder, arm and hand and it was bad. I applied the lotion to my shoulder, neck and arm and when I woke up the next morning after sleeping the whole night! The pain was greatly reduced I couldn't believe it! '

' I am continuing to use it every night and just a touch during the day if I feel the need but my shoulder is 80% better, my arm and neck are being a bit more stubborn but at least 50% better and my hand is also 80% better. I have applied it to a sore bunion and that is pain free now! '

' I had started to use the magnesium oil in a spray bottle a while back with minimal help with pain but I continue to use it because I know it's good for me. '

' I also want to mention that I have tried all the prescriptions for Fibromyalgia non of which worked or worked enough to justify the side effects. '

' I do also take PEA400 (Palmitoylethanolamide) which has also helped me a fair amount and I would recommend to other Fibromyalgia sufferers. '

' The excellent results from using the melatonin lotion make me a little emotional because being in constant pain is hard on your spirit and I have finally found some relief and I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge with everyone! Thank you Art! '

It seems worth considering ML for this purpose of relief from fibromyalgia pain. ML is generally a gentle pain reliever for most people. Please keep us posted on how you make out.

Thank you Art again! This might be something even my husband might be willing to try as he has chronic pain from psoriatic arthritis. I'm fearful of the gin. I know it's just massaging into the skin, but I have not had any alcohol since 2012 being on all of the anxiety pills. Seems like every little thing sets me back

My biggest problem right now is fear (anxiety), getting off anti-anxiety meds, training my brain to get out of fight or flight (I saw somewhere you had an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and chemical sensitivities to the point where I wore a mask from a hospital and now get bumps in my nose and have a chronic eye condition (MGD) dry eye and bumps all around my lids. It's crazy, I just wore the mask for two days a year and a half ago.

I just wish I would not have taken all those antibiotics, I'm so sad that it caused so many issues where I can't work and feel like I don't have a life. I even have trouble getting out of the house (fear). Sorry for all the venting. Please think to pray for me if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank you for all of you contributions to this site. I see your name often. It's great you do all this research! Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Regarding your husband's psoriatic arthritis (PA), I also have PA and have kept it in remission for over 16 years using Ted's borax remedy for men. My PA was severe and it affected many joints throughout my body. It took about a month to start to see benefit and I was pain free after three months. I have taken borax since starting it except for a few test breaks and have remained pain free in my joints.

Regarding ML, gin is made with several herbs and the herbs themselves are suggested to have beneficial health effects. Lastly, I find the light scent of gin to be much nicer than other clear alcohols such as vodka. The gin mostly evaporates shortly after application.

If you also use EFT, you can try using it to try and release and expel whatever is the cause of the anxiety. Because of the length of time you have had excess anxiety, you may have to work at EFT hard and long to see if it will help.

Art, that is so great the your PA was helped by borox! I told my husband about that, I've looked up borox before, but have not tried. I'm glad you are pain-free. I wonder if borox would do anything negative to gut flora.

Good to know that the gin evaporates and doesn't really penetrate in the skin. Thanks for that explanation.

So my anxiety comes from the 20 years of use of the antibiotics and it's almost like the anxiety is subconcious. I would have never gotten sick if I had not taken them. It has lead to many, many oddities of pain with the most troubling being chemical sensitivities. Apparently antibiotics are horrible for mental health, I don't know how to fix my declines immune and limbic system.

Thanks so much for your help, Debbie

Hi Debbie,

You should check out ECs Borax page here to learn more as well as how to use it :

https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax.html

Borax will have an alkalizing effect on the gut as it has a pH over 9, but sipping it throughout the day will minimize this effect.
