Looking For Info On Lewy Body Disease

Posted by Gary (Macon, Georgia) on 01/08/2010

Ted or anyone with information:

I wanted to know if anyone might know of a cure or promising treatment for lewy body disease. My Father has been diagnosed with this disease and the medications that have been prescribed do not seem to be helping. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.

Hello Gary from Macon, Ga.

Sorry your Dad is sick, but since Lewy body disease overlaps with Alzheimers and Parkinson's disease, perhaps you should look up the references on earthclinic.com the use of methylene blue for Parkinson's disease that Ted recommended. The lady who was using it on her father sounded very happy with the results and she also gave a list of helpful vitamins she was giving him.

EC: The posts from Jane of Fort Worth, Texas that Joyce is referring to are located here: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/parkinsons.html#MBVC

I never quite know how to post or find out if I got an answer to a post, but I'll go for it and hope for the best. My grandmother seems to be exhibiting signs of early dementia. I looked under brain food, and looked for a section on memory loss. I wonder if there is something I can start doing now to decrease her chances of succombing to dementia, or is it a losing battle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A daily glass of beet juice will help will increase blood flow to brain and reduce blood pressure

also include Turmeric.. tincture may be easier to get the daily value.

also increase omega 3s... by either supplements or eating wild salmon, sardines, walnuts.

also consider a Pycnogenol & or Ginkgo supplement... tell your doctor if you do...

I have heard great results about suplementing coconut oil into your diet. I believe I read/heard that 4 tbs a day. My mom has just been diagnosed with Differential Dementia w/ lewy body and I am hoping to convince her to try it.

My boyfriends Dad has Lewy body dementia and it has progressed over the last 5 yrs. 2 - 3 yrs ago he began the skin picking so bad his arms would bleed terribly. There was no help from the doctor. Some of the wounds would get infected. This has gone on for nearly 3 yrs or more now. When you get to the point where you realize the doctors can't help, it's time to try something different. 5 weeks ago my boyfriends Mom started giving him 2 Tbsp of Hemp oil and 2 Tbsp of Coconut oil every morning in his coffee or whatever he would drink. He is no longer picking his skin (this is great news) and his wounds are starting to heal! Though it hasn't helped with his sleep. He goes on for days with no sleep. If anyone has a good remedy for that please post it. It's so hard watching loved ones suffer.

Hi Tena,

You can try many things for insomnia.

1. The first is Ted's bicarb remedy. Put one lemon's juice (approx 2 tablespoon) in a glass, then 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and then after fizzing stops, 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda). Pour half glass of water to this mixture and give it to him 3 times a day. Give this remedy atleast half an hour before or after food.

2. Use ample organic cold-pressed castor oil on his face and around his eyes and massage lightly before going to bed. Castor oil is cooling and relaxing. Also use transdermal magnesium oil (saturated magnesium chloride solution) which is available in spray form to massage rest of his body. Magnesium is helpful for sleep and all forms of dementia as well.

Hope this works for him.

Try melatonin for the sleep issues. Start with a low dose like 1 mg and see if that helps. If not, work it up.

My husband also has Lewy Body dementia. He was diagnosed a little over 5 years ago. He started out over 25 years ago with very vivid nightmares. Had no idea this was one of the first symptoms. Then about 6 years ago, the hallucinations started. Then blood pressure problems, dropping to 60/40 and an hour later 180/110. He was in the hospital several times in 2012. Awake for days and nights at a time. Wandering and hallucinating. The doctors had been trying different medications to help him sleep. Medications like, haldol, valium, clonazepam, ativan and I don't know how many more. He couldn't leave the hospital because he was a danger to me and himself. Finally neurologist was called in and diagnosed him with Lewy Body dementia. I was told that someone with Lewy Body dementia cannot take these type of drugs. They have adverse reactions in most people. Seriquel and Melatonin are the only medication he has been able to take that doesnt interfere with his sleep and hallucinations.
