Seeking Help for Low Kidney Function in Son
Hi, My son, who is 59 years of age, has had tests done and it has been revealed that his kidney function readings are low. Is there anything he can do to rectify this apart from drinking a lot of water? He eats a varied diet, but I wouldn't say it was a particularly healthy one, and he likes a glass of wine a couple of times a week (sounds like the average man! ). He's also into martial arts. Can kidney damage be reversed?

Yes.. Kidney damage can be reversed. The Amish and I use this herbal tincture blend called KID-W. It's ingredients are (Juniper Berries, Uva Ursi, Parsley, Dandelion Root, Chamomile). I have used this on people facing dialysis with good results.

Hi again, Gracie.
In addition to the various fruits and vegetables, melatonin, baking soda and magnesium that I mentioned in my previous reply, it would be very helpful for your son to have his vitamin D level tested. If his vitamin D level is low, it will be very important to bring that level up fairly high in the reference range as vitamin D has synergy with magnesium, melatonin and the vitamin D receptor, which is enhanced by melatonin. This creates a four way synergistic effect when it comes to kidney health.
Further, magnesium glycinate may be the best form of magnesium to use as the glycine content is also advantageous for the kidneys.
In any case, your son should get his doctor's approval and supervision before starting these supplements, to be as safe as possible for his own health.

Thank you again, Art, very sound advice. There was some more bad news today, apparently he's now got DVT in one of his legs!

Some beneficial treatments for kidney failure in traditional Arabic medicine include:
1- Using Arabic gum and mastic gum
2- Drinking a glass of pumpkin juice on an empty stomach in the morning, as this juice helps cleanse the kidneys of deposits and toxins.

Hi Gracie,
His doctor will probably want to put him on at least one blood thinner/anti-clotting agent and possibly low dose aspirin. Please ask his doctor if he can take melatonin while on the blood thinner medication. The melatonin, vitamin D and magnesium (MDM) may offer an adjunctive treatment for clotting because when a clot forms, the body naturally tries to dissolve it. During that process, the vein can become chronically inflamed and MDM can potentially reduce the inflammation and related oxidative stress. The combination of MDM that I discussed for the kidneys may offer benefit here for the DVT if his doctor will approve and supervise it. The combination can improve endothelial function, improve vascular tone reduce inflammation, lower oxidative stress, enhance VDR while magnesium can also improve vitamin D activation.
His doctor may allow it later, but for now he will likely want to only allow the blood thinner and possibly low dose aspirin unless he is really progressive.
