Is European Lugol's Iodine Different and Only Applied Topically?

Posted by Cecilia Lindqvist (Malmö, Sweden ) on 04/04/2025

Hi!

I live in Sweden and buy Lugols iodine. Here, the manufacturer says not to take the drops internally. I thought that was the best way to take it. Is the European form of Lugols different, so that you should not drink it?

Thank you in advance,

Best regards

Here in the USA tincture of iodine has the poison label on it. But, the label does not state WHY? The reason why is as follows.

Iodine is a naturally-occurring chemical that comes from sea kelp. Small amounts are needed for good health. However, large doses can cause harm. Children are especially sensitive to the effects of iodine.

Every country has a governing board of doctor's that determine what medicines will be available to there citizens. It sounds like Sweden is not telling you WHY you should not put it in your mouth.

Tincture and Lugols iodine have a long history of use both internally and externally in the old medical books (1850-1930) that I have read. And the dosage internally were extremely high compared to current dosage today. I've taken 6 drops lugols internally daily with no problem.

If you had Malaria, Malaria was treated with 20 drops of nascent iodine in a half glass of water given 4 or 5 times during the first day and then going to 10 drops of nascent iodine 4 times a day for 3 more days. A slide study of the blood shows that the malaria is gone from the body.

Lugol's Iodine (also called "Lugol's solution") was first developed by the French physician, Jean Lugol, in 1829.

Recipe – Ingredients:

10 parts potassium iodide (KI)

5 parts iodine crystals (this makes Lugol's Iodine 5%)

85 parts of (distilled) water

Note:

Potassium iodine is used in medicine and taken orally (used in anti-radiation meds). Iodine is used in medicine and taken orally in small dosage. Water is drank everyday. See my point?

Personally, I gargle with 5 drops iodine in water, I snorted it in water up my nose. I flush it in water in my ears. I'm still alive

No, you can take it internally. Not sure where they got that idea. Stupidity is my guess.

We have been taking it for years daily. Our kids and their spouses as well.

It is reinvigorating.
