Medication Not Helping Puppy with Parvo

Posted by Jeanine (Heavener, Ok Usa) on 04/02/2013

hi my 12 week old puppy started getting sick on Saturday. I thought maybe she had gotten in to something cause on sunday she acted just fine but today she could barely hold her head up so I took her to the vet she tested positive for parvo he gave her meds for vomiting and diarrea. She wasnt doing much better so I googled home remedies for parvo and I came to this site. I have started the charcoal remedy and praying for the best. Wish me luck. I will keep y'all informed.

Please keeps us posted. My little 8 weeks puppy has the same thing, took him to the vet, they gave him antibiotic and shots for vomiting. Took home one bag of fluid to give to him via SC. He is mostly sleeping. I just found this website, and thinking about using these remedies. He is not drinking at all. He did at first when I brought him back from the vet. Then he stops drinking. I just forced about 7 cc pedialyte to him. Hope he is better. Please let me know your outcome. And how much should we give the puppy? does it go by the age of weight?

Hey Jane!

I am so happy you found a cure for your pups and were able to save their lives!

I found your post fascinating and had to do some research to understand both the products you recommend and your advice.

I must disagree, however, that stopping the nausea and diarrhea is not needed; reducing those natural symptoms to this virus act to help keep the puppy hydrated. It is the dehydration - not the virus - that kills by causing organ failure; I just LOVE your advice for the enema to accomplish the rehydration process.

I had to google the products you recommended; the Bactra plus is not technically an antibiotic; by strict definition, the word “antibiotic” refers to substances produced by microorganisms that act against another microorganism. The Bactra plus contains "antimicrobial agents" which while not microorganisms themselves act against all types of microorganisms. The Black Seed [Black Cumin] in the Bactra Plus is a very powerful antimicrobial agent; when compared to the usual run of antibiotics [Amoxicillin et al] on 144 strains of superbugs 97 were inhibited by the Black Seed oil. Both of the products you recommend boost the immune system -I love these products! But what I don't like is the $72.00 price tag that accompanies them, and the shipping time that accompanies them, as they do not appear to be OTC at my local drug store; as you know a delay in treatment could mean the death of a puppy, so time is very critical when treating a parvo pup. What I can find at hand and no need to shop online, and rather inexpensively at that, is activated charcoal at my drug store and pet stores. So while I think your product recommendation is great, I do think for the bloke with pockets to let that the AC is a more instantly accessible remedy, and along with the hydration you recommend [via a home made electrolyte solution] via oral or enema is a more accessible remedy for the average Joe.

I love your idea for having these two products around for any breeder or rescue! But for the average Joe who brought their new puppy home last week and now finds they have a sick puppy and is faced with mounting vet bills and maxed out credit cards and are in tears of desperation, the AC and home made electrolytes are live savers also.

Everyone who is struggling with this dreadful puppy-killer virus - there is a way. No-one is trying to kill the infections that are really what takes the puppy down. Stopping the vomiting and diarrhoea is not what is needed as the body is trying to reject the virus - this is normal. Rehydration every hour with an electrolyte solution is critical - enemas are the way to get that hydration level up. The best answer is to use 2 products which saved my puppies - Amber Technologies in the US that provide Paxxin (formerly Parvaid) and Vibactra Plus - both powerful herbal formulas the second being the antibiotic. Link to www.wolfcreekranch which is in the US also and follow their tried and tested protocol. It saved my babies and taught me all I need to know about this virus. the one puppy that ended in the vet - died. Mine - no! If ever one of my puppies (and I am a breeder) shows any sign of sickness then I run to these 2 remedies for prevention. Do your babies a favour - but be prepared for on the hour every hour. Good luck

Cost is an issue for most of us. I found it less expense by having the products on hand at all times before getting a pup. Always check their hydration & make sure their gums don't get pale. These products can be used for other problems so it isn't like I am going to waste my money. You can tell by the smell if the pup has Parvo. There is nothing like it. I respect Veterinarians but cannot afford them except in emergencies. And as I do with my family, prefer herbal remedies that work for us. They aren't miracle cures of course & you have to use common sense for each situation. I do trust this manufacturer's products, though.
