Melatonin Powder Added to Water For Improving Health

Melatonin for improving health

For the past few weeks I have been adding approximately 1/32 to 1/16th tsp powdered melatonin to my water bottle. To which is also added lemon juice, 1/4 tsp vitamin C, NAC, baking soda, ginger, pink salt, bromelain, and inositol. I am trying to improve my problems with pain, inflammation, blood pressure, macular degeneration, insomnia, etc. I am 70. One of my thoughts are will the lemon juice overrule or weaken the melatonin?

Hi Hollyhock,

That is an interesting supplement stack. Almost every thing you listed has varying degrees of anticoagulation activity and if there is any synergy between them in that respect, it may cause too much blood thinning. A sign that it is too much anticoagulation activity will be bruising or possibly bleeding which would be worth watching for, just to be on the safe side. Bromelain seems like it would be one of the more effective anticoagulation supplements in your stack, but is also noted for its pain relieving effects.

Thanks Art. I don't bruise easily. My concern is the pain I'm dealing with for the past several years. And being that melatonin can help with inflammation I decided to add it to my water bottle. Prednisone helped me immensely years ago, but I don't want to go that route again.

Hi Hollyhock,

Have you tried homemade topical Naproxen or Ibuprofen that I have written about before on EC, for the pain? Both are very easy to make and help to prevent gastrointestinal issues which are very common with many NSAIDS. These also reach high local tissue levels of either, quickly.
