Metastasized Cervical C2 Cancer

Posted by Moodydew (New York City) on 05/17/2026

Hello, 74yrs old. diagnosed January 9th this year. Did radiation in march, immunotherapy in may. Had a reaction from both. Radiation killed the tumor and left a rectovaginal fistula. Keytruda inflamed entire GI tract and cannot eat. Cannot even swallow. If anybody has any suggestions please feel free to share. Thank you.

Hi Moodydew,

You will have to get your oncologist's approval first, but ginger root powder capsules can help reduce the stomach inflammation that you say has been caused by the Keytruda. The problem with Keytruda is it can cause gastric upset of varying degrees, but sometimes it can be severe. if it is very severe, your oncologist may say no, but if the answer is yes, start low around 500 mg and work your way up to 1000 mg. If your oncologist says yes to one capsule per meal, that may offer significant help for your gastric issues. You will usually start to see some benefit in about three days if it is going to help.

Moodydew,

I forgot to mention, if it is too hard to swallow the capsules you can drink a quality ginger tea as a second place option, but in my experience the capsules are the better option.

Did you try drinking aloe? That's very soothing to the GI tract. Surgery will fix that rectovaginal fistula and it will take just a few minutes.
