My Dog Has Mast Cell Tumor

Posted by Boris (Los Angeles, California) on 03/15/2015

I am trying to find out if anybody has had any experience with mast cell tumor in dogs. My 7 1/2 year old lab has been diagnosed with it a few months ago. He has undergone radiation treatment and is getting chemo right now. I am trying to find out if there are any natural remedies that can help battling his disease.

I have had experience with a mast cell tumor.. Unfortunately my 9 year old pug passed away from it. We tried everything holistically, and then submitted to chemo, which did not work. I found out later from a friend whose dog had a mast cell tumor, never to do a biopsy. Which we did. Their vet had them just have the tumor removed and then did the biopsy after it was off the dog. We were not offered this option. Unfortunately our dog did not survive, the other that had the entire tumor removed, is still alive, years later.

Hi, we have a mast cell tumor also on a big dog, 90lb, he had a biopsy and is grade 2 , we are using predisone and B17 and also nuvetplus. Check out B17, its on amazon or give your dog fresh ground pit from the centre of an apricot 10mg for every 10 lb of body weight, I got some from amazon for $27 and there is another company in california for 19.95 but just research it and contact me if you need more info!

Hello,

Any help would be appreciated. I have a 174lb bullmastiff. No he is not overweight. He is oversized for the breed and he is a fit muscular male. He was just diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in his upper right elbow area. He was biopsied by out vet and we just got the news today. He wants to do surgery and get it out asap and then send it away to see what grade tumor it is and go from there. I want to know if there is any holistic remedies I can give him to help with this. He is 8 yrs old.

Hey Jeff!

8 years old is when MCT usually strikes :-(

Read up on MCT here:

In addition to what your vet may recommend, you might also consider cancer fighting nutritionals such as turmeric, Essiac Tea and Seabuckthorn oil.

The topical application of a castor oil pack, or castor oil and turmeric in a paste over the tumor may also aid in the fight.
