High Blood Pressure and Anxiety

Posted by Bonbon (Pierson, Florida) on 04/02/2016 30 posts

I have an extreme fear of the medical system. I also have high blood pressure problems that I have been trying to get under control for sometime now. I have anxiety as well and cannot get a true blood pressure reading. So it seems pointless to put myself through the emotional distress by taking it. I do know it's high though as I did get the nerve to take it a few weeks ago and it was very high. I'm 53 and 134lbs. I did just lose about 15lbs over the last few months by cutting out sugar and fried foods and my favorite, margaritas which I became way to fond of. I also started walking. I had been kind of lazy for awhile. Other than my blood pressure and anxiety I feel pretty good. It seems to be worse in the afternoon. I take magnesium regularly and have been taking rhodeola for anxiety as needed. Which I just read that it can cause high blood pressure.

I started on the beet juice supplement that is popular now as to simplify the beet juicing process. That is a real chore. I also started taking nac, 1000mg of vitamin C, a d3 complex and hawthorn berry extract. I have also been juicing aloe Vera gel once a day. But I still am having issues. In the afternoon it starts. The heart pounding, the anxiety. I am really concerned now because my urine is clear. I do drink a lot of water and I don't seem to have any other renal symptoms. No swelling, no nausea. But I do urinate a lot and my urine is extremely acidic. My saliva is alkaline. I want to try the baking soda but because of the blood pressure it concerns me. I bought some potassium citrate but am not sure because I've read it can be dangerous if one has kidney problems. And I'm really nervous about the borax thing. That just sounds weird to me. I do know that I need help though. My friends at the health food stores seem knowledgeable, but they are in business to sell supplements and it seems I am taking more and more stuff now and that can't be good for the kidneys and liver. Please help.

Dear Bonbon,

This is certainly not going to be a complete answer for you but a couple of things about herbs...

For some people Rhodiola stops helping anxiety (even when it had been helping) and starts to make it worse.

An herb to consider is Motherwort. Motherwort is good for anxiety and for high blood pressure and heart issues that are cause by anxiety. It is also commonly helpful to women in the menopausal years. It is easy to take in tincture form. The tea is bitter.

I hope that you will feel much better soon!

Hi Bonbon...I would perhaps suggest that you take the following for your high blood pressure problem:

Organic Chanca Piedra Tea or capsules: For the capsules -- 450 mgs twice a day. Or take the tea form at least 3 times a day. CP protects, detoxes and supports the liver, strongly supports the kidneys, lowers blood pressure, lowers blood sugar, lowers cholesterol, anti-viral, kills bacteria, lowers excess calcium in the blood, relieves pain, reduces inflammation, removes gallstones and kidney stones, reduces blood sugar, expels worms and prevents DNA mutations. See all the research here.

Niacin: Take this as Inositol Hexanicotinate(aka the no-flush niacin form) -- 1500 mgs twice a day with meals. There used to be an old pre-WW2 medicine called iodo-niacin(niacin + potassium iodide). This med was highly successful at curing high blood pressure and other heart problems with no side-effects. Then after WW2 they fazed out this simple and successful(but unpatentable) drug in favor of patentable and therefore more profitable drugs like statins and beta-blockers which are far more dangerous for your body(many side-effects) than iodo-niacin. I guess the drugs companies just wanted more profit from their own patented drugs.

The Benefits of Higher Dose Niacin.

The main action of niacin is electrical in that it helps to unclump sticky blood and thins it safely, thus helping to lower BP by taking the strain off the heart. Niacin is also an anti-fungal and an energy booster.

Alkalize the blood using sodium bicarbonate and water as Ted from Bangkok recommends. I did a little experiment some years ago. I measured my blood pressure with a wrist monitor and then I took a half teaspoon baking soda in water. One hour later, I measured my BP again. There was no elevation of my blood pressure -- none. Then, at different times, I took both magnesium chloride and sodium chloride and measured the before and after blood pressure. With the MgCL and NaCL my blood pressure always went up. But when I used sodium bicarbonate my blood pressure did not go up. Reason? It's not the sodium that raises your blood pressure but -- as Ted form Bangkok has said many times long ago -- its the chloride component that raises the blood pressure. You also need to urgently alkalize because your blood is so acid which is causing your acid urine problem.

The fact that your heart problems seem to start or become worse in the early afternoon is also a strong indicator that you need to alkalize. In the morning after your homeostasis mechanisms have done there best to balance your body's pH during sleep then your pH will normally be at its most alkaline in the morning -- when you don't have your heart problems. Then, as you eat bad foods throughout the day your blood becomes more and more acid as a result until, by the afternoon, this acid problem begins to effect your heart/kidneys. This is where alkalizing the blood in the afternoon should perhaps benefit you the most.

Organic Kelp tablets or powder: 1000 mgs(1/4 teaspoon powder) per day. Supports the niacin by supplying iodide. Also supplies important trace minerals.

B50 Complex -- Once a day with meals. Synergistically supports niacin.

Granuated Lecithin(not the oil form) -- one teaspoon a day with meals. Helps to break up fats in the blood and supplies important phospholipids for cell repair in the body. This is also one of Ted's remedies to help support both the liver and blood.

In your diet your should avoid all refined salt -- use sea salt instead because it's more alkaline and it also supplies important trace minerals for your body. Avoid or reduce vegetable oils (polyunsaturated oils) in your diet and reduce fats in your diet. And avoid all sugar foods. If you want to get sick really quick, then just eat meals that are high in refined salt, chemically produced veg oils and sugar -- the fructose sugar form is especially bad for your body because it cannot be regulated by insulin. Unfortunately fructose is in everything we eat or drink now.

Chanca Piedra really works on lowering high blood pressure. I found the capsule easier to procure and more convenient to take anytime, anywhere.

Thanks Bill. I will start this regimen right away. The chanca piedra is hard to come by and I ordered tea but not sure how long... I can get stone breaker at the store till it comes. One thing I failed to mention in my original post is that for a couple of months now I have been experiencing strange light headed feelings. Not really dizzy but more buzzy. I was reading this can also be caused by kidney failure. I'm nervous about this now. I do have a good flow when I go especially since I started on the aloe Vera juice. Do you believe these remedies you've suggested will heal me?

I also want to mention that I do use a good sea salt. And I do try and eat right. Especially lately. I have also been walking regularly. I have been taking niacin for a couple of weeks but the regular kind. I can only do 100mg though. Any more makes me flush bad and I can't do it. I will get the kind you suggest though. My question is, is it safe to exercise after taking it? It seemed to really rev me up after taking it.

Thank you so much for your advise. I really appreciate it.

Hi Bill. More questions please.

How long before I expect to see an improvement?

Should I continue the aloe Vera juice? I have been preparing it this way. I use only the gel and about a 3 inch piece, A half a lemon squeezed and a tbs raw honey in about 6 oz water blended and strained. I do like it and it seems to give me energy.

Should I continue the beet juice? I've been doing this first thing in the morning for about two weeks.

For breakfast I make a protein smoothie with a quality organic mix. I add cold pressed grape juice, just a little, fresh ground flax seed, moranga, a banana and a little ice blended. I will add the kelp to this.

I am taking these as well.

  • Vitamin C
  • d3 complex
  • Nac

I just started a super fish oil about a week ago.

A magnesium oil and a magnesium citrate supplement I mix with water before bed.

This is a lot of stuff, but I don't mind it if it's beneficial to me.

I admit I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl. Although I mostly eat organic. I have been trying to incorporate more fish and raw vegetables in to my diet. But I can't live on salad alone. No alcohol and lots of water. No bread. I know that fruits are a no no but what fruits are allowed? I am really trying. So much so that I have lost quite a bit of weight.

I just need results. And I really do appreciate your advice. Thank you again.

Hi Bonbon...The niacin that I suggest you take -- inositol hexanicotinate -- is the slow release, no-flush niacin so you should not get any niacin flush effects from taking it.

Particularly concerning your acid blood -- if nothing is done about this situation then it can end up causing more serious problems. As Ted has said many times, acid blood, over any extended period of time, acts to dissolve or destroy the delicate and critical filtration network in the kidneys. This can therefore result in more serious kidney problems. That's why you should try alkalizing the blood as advised. Start out with a small dose of sodium bicarbonate with water and work your way up to the normal half teaspoon dose.

Taking niacin will increase your energy naturally. So taking niacin shouldn't really cause any problems if you exercise.

Anxiety attack is very simple to cure once you understand it.

The cause and cure for panic attack is not a deficency of drugs, its not a matter of psychological counciling, its not because you have things that scare you. The cause of panic attack is a deficency of a certain amino acid the brain uses as a neurotransmitter called gaba.

If you were calm, relaxed in a great state of mind, able to get lots of refreshing sleep at night and in general felt great then your levels of gaba would be normal. If your gaba levels are low then you are fearful of everything, you can not relax, you would get very poor sleep, you would have a low tolerance to pain and life would be very stressful and depressing.

GABA is not made by the body. GABA is made for you by a certain type of bacteria that lives in your intestines called lactobacilli rhamnoses.

When you have a deficiency of lactobacilli rhamnoses then you have a deficiency of GABA. And on the other hand when you have lots of lactobacilli rhamnoses in your intestines then they make lots of GABA for you .
When your gut bacteria is happy you are happy. When they are not happy then you are not happy either. As crazy as it may seem this is actually the way it works.

Many people commit suicide because they feel bad, they feel bad because they have a GABA deficiency, they have a GABA deficiency because they have a lactobacilli rhamnoses deficiency .

Do you see how this works? This is life in the real world.

To stop all this needless trouble anxiety and depression you have to restore proper order to your intestinal tract. You have to eat a good diet with no junk food, you need to eat mostly raw organic fruits and vegetables, lots of yogurt with lactobacillli rhamnoses in it. And avoid things which kill off good bacteria in the intestines.

Health food stores have gaba available as a supplement for cheap. If you are super depressed and or filled with anxiety then supplement your diet while taking probiotics to increase your intestinal bacteria levels of this important strain.

Hi Bon Bon, Re: high blood pressure

I found this great naturopath on utube. His name is Dr. Robert Morse. Check him out. He says that high blood pressure can be cured with just eating raw fruits for breakfast and lunch and a salad for dinner. But check his videos on utube..he also believes that high blood pressure is toxic kidneys. I was diagnosed a few years ago with hbp and was on the beta blocker that nearly killed me. Got off of it and started taking natural things. I too am afraid to take it so I don't. Yeah; stupid right.. the more I take it the worse I feel... so I started the raw diet of just fruits and veggies for months now since I think I might have kidney issues now. I also take kidney formulas I order from Morse for extra added bonus.. keep drinking the water though.. I have added Hawthorn and Argenine and taurine because I don't like doctor and want to stay away from them lol.. I do also drink the chanca piedra tea at times which calms me and my nerves.. so it must be lowering the bp... the ACV lowers bp too. You have to keep trying what works..

Thanks Bee. I got my Chanca tea in the mail yesterday thank goodness. I have also been taking the niacin. It seems to be working well. I found another interesting site called health-parameters. Very informative. It is encouraged to use a rebounder 3 minutes 3 x a day for blood oxygenation. This helps the kidneys. I got one today at Wallys for $30. I feel very encouraged by all these incorporations in to my lifestyle. The hardest thing for me is the diet. I love cheese and sauces so cutting these out of my diet leaves things so bland it isn't appetizing at all. I'm losing a lot of weight because of it. I guess this is a good thing.

I will check out Morse as you suggested.

Hi BonBon...You should hopefully see good results within two weeks to a month or quicker. And since most of the natural nutrients you are taking would indicate that they have been missing from your diet -- I would perhaps continue taking them but at a lower maintenance dose in the future.

Your diet and other nutrients that you are on should not create any problems with the additional nutrients that I've recommended.

A further word of caution for you. If taking the niacin makes your anxiety worse over the longer term, then there is more than a possibility that you might have methylation issues as well. Niacin is a methyl sink -- it removes methyl groups from your body. So if you are already under-methylated (lacking methyl groups in your body) then supplementing niacin might make your anxiety worse (this is not the same as the niacin flush which only lasts for about 20 mins). If this happens -- then stop taking the niacin. The only way to confirm whether you are under-methylated or over-methylated(due to Methylation Cycle blockades) would be to get yourself properly checked and tested by a methylation-literate doctor. For more understanding on Methylation Cycle problems, which are all quite complex, see this link to Dr Ben Lynch's Website.

Under-Methylation -- Dr William Walsh

Over-Methylation -- Dr William Walsh

Thanks Bill. I have been researching side effects of Niacin and I have not seen anything about what you mentioned above. However, I read that high doses are considered anything over 100 mg. And people with kidney or liver problems should not take it. In another article it says that anything over 2000 mg. Can cause liver damage. So the 3000 mg. a day dosage you suggest for me seems excessive. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Bill,

I have just been reading some of your advice to Bon Bon and found it extremely informative. So much so, I can use some of the protocol myself for BP and a few other issues....though I don't have anything life threatening.

Finally I want to commend you for what you do to share information with people who can use it to improve health issues and promote well being. I have learned so much just reading your posts that I am amazed at the amount of knowledge that you have regarding the human body and all its intricacies. So I want to thank you with all my heart and pray you will be richly blessed for your unselfish and gracious assistance to so many people.

I also want to thank Earth Clinic for making all this exchange of information possible, which is so comprehensive.

God bless you all and many, many thanks!

Hi Bonbon...Dr Abram Hoffer, a well-known research psychiatrist, was the one who, in the early 1950s, discovered that higher dose niacin would actually cure people of Sczophrenia, Depression, Bipolar, ADHD, Insomnia and Cardiovascular heart problems. He used doses of 3 gms, 6 gms and even 30 gms of niacin to cure schizophrenics and depression and nobody died.

Niacin -- The Real Story(Hoffer)

How to Take Niacin

Please also take note of the niacin dosages that are recommended in the above links.

It's really up to you and depends on whether you want to believe the recommendations of allopathic medicine or believe Dr Hoffer who researched the effects of niacin and other vitamins on the human body for over 50 years. As he mentions in his writings, Dr Hoffer also took niacin(at 3 grms per day) on a daily basis since the 1950s. He recently died at age 92.

Thanks Bill. I appreciate your insight. My concern is my liver as I have learned that the blood pressure problems begin in the liver. I don't want to make it worse. I will just need to stay on the Chanca regular to keep it healthy.

I have also researched the methyl subject as you suggested. I am trying Gaba as someone recommended for anxiety. Would that help with the methyl depletion in your opinion?

Hi Bonbon,

Yes Bill is correct. Even very high doses of Niacin have been used to treat many diseases. It is only certain Sustained Release or Extended Release formula of Niacin which has been reported to create some side-effects not the pure Niacin. If you do not like the flush, you can always use Niacinamide which has the same effect. Niacinamide does not create the cholesterol stabilizing effect which Niacin does. Except for that it has all other benefits of Naicin. Infact I have seen Ted recommend Niacinamide over Niacin on most occasions.
