Need Treatment Advice For Tail Sarcoma In Dog

Posted by Flint (Fort Worth, Texas) on 02/28/2015

I have an 11 year old german shepherd and he has two large golf ball sized tumors on his tail, one of them is ulcerated. When they first showed up they looked like little pea sized cysts but grew to their current size within 2 months. My vet did a fine needle biopsy and diagnosed a malignant sarcoma, but the lab couldn't tell what kind or stage without a full biopsy. He wants to amputate the tail and I'm not sure my dog will survive the surgery. Is there an alternative?
