9 Year Old Chi With Heart Murmur and Early Stage Congestive Heart Failure
My 9-yr old chihuahua just got diagnosed with a heart murmur and is in the early stage of congestive heart failure. She has been coughing a lot when she gets overly excited and barks and after she drinks water her Vet started her on several medications but I am concerned that the side effects will make Chi-Chi miserable. She is on a water pill and has been peeing in the bed in her sleep. I'm hoping someone who might be in similar situation can suggest what I might try Chi-Chi is like my child- I don't want to see her in any pain or discomfort and I believe that all this medication will only do more harm than good. Also, is there a certain diet that would be better for her instead of dog food?

You should find a Holistic Vet and bring your dog right away. I lost my one dog because of water pill side effect failured his kidney. The other dog 12 yr old that I have now, also diagnosed with early stage of heart murmur, I brought her to Holistic Vet and now, she is taking Hawthorn, CoQ10, Standard Process Cardio Plus for her heart , I give her milk thistle and SP Renafood to support her liver and kidney also. Try not to get her so excited.
When your dog's Vet started her on medication ang water pill, I don't think it is early stage. You should find holistic Vet immediatly.
