Suddenly Numb on the Left Side - Doctors Ruled Out Stroke

Posted by EB (England) on 12/14/2022

I wonder if anyone has advice: Yesterday my left arm and leg went partially numb, I can still use them but there is something different. A retired dr friend advised me to check out in A and E (England) in case of a stroke. I spent 6hours there and thankfully they ruled out a stroke or mini stroke. But they dont know what it is.

A symptom I have is that when I hold something in my left hand I don't feel the full weight of it as I feel when I hold it in my right hand.

So something weird is up but no clue what. Any insight would really be appreciated.

EB,

Here is an article that discusses other causes for numbness on one side of the body other than stroke which may be helpful in trying to determine the cause for your left side numbness :

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/21015-numbness

Here is a relevant list from the article :

Other medical conditions that may cause numbness include:

  • Diabetes
  • Infections such as HIV or Lyme disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Medications or drug use
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Arthritis
  • Tumor
  • Spread of cancer to the spine
  • Animal and insect bites
  • Exposure to poisons/toxins

EB,

I suggest you rule out carbs. Generally speaking, low carb (ketogenic) diets are the healthiest, and high carb diets are the unhealthiest, and there are many who LOVE carbs, and are addicted to carbs. The most addictive carbs are sugars, fruits, starches, and grains. So, how about testing yourself?

Test #1: Put yourself on a zero carb diet for at least 1 week, and see if the numbness goes away.

Test #2: Once you're back to normal, start eating carbs; at least 2 cups of lentils, per day, every day, for at least 3 days in a row. Keep an eye open for any weakness and or numbness in your arms and legs.

FYI, if *I* eat a lot of carbs, one of my sides gets weak and or numb. This effect is known as "the evil of carbohydrates". I hope this will help you, or somebody!

Thank you for this, definitely "food for thought".

But lentils are pulses and really healthy...?

EB,

In my experience, lentils work. However, alternatively, if you prefer sweet fruits, e.g. apples and bananas, they will also work, provided you eat a lot of them, day after day, every day, for at least 3 days in a row.

Did you take the covid jab? There are many reports of strange symptoms from it that most allopathic doctors don't know how to deal with. If you did take it, you might feel better if you detox.

Thanks for your reply.

No I did not take the covid jab, (I took the first one well over a year ago and wont take any more).

I actually thought maybe I had covid now but who knows and this is not down as a symptom.

I am now feeling in my left big toe and left thumb interesting feeling, could be lack of circulation. And as I mentioned earlier my muscles in left arm seem to be a bit "dead" as when I pick up something in that hand it feels half the weight as it does in the right hand.

Are there any herbs or spices which help with circulation? Cayenne seems to raise blood pressure and I already have high blood pressure.

Thanks for everyone who has advice.

Mine was caused by two herniated discs in my neck.

Putting pressure on the spinal cord.

Have them check your spine.

My wife recently had issues with her left side. A ct scan revealed it to be a brain tumor that turned out to be malignant. If it does not improve, I would get it checked out.

Thank you for your reply.

It has improved, not perfect in extremities, been to GP who did not know and scheduled some blood tests (for vitamin levels).

Trying to eat healthy and do exercise.

I wish your wife well and a complete recovery!
