Numbness and Tingling When Touched on Left Side of Body From Head to Toe

Posted by Pacific Coast Lady (Crescent City, CA) on 08/08/2021

Has anyone experienced full numbness, tingling in one side of the body, mine is my left side? This is day 8, and I was first taken to the hospital and the typical tests were run to rule out stroke, heart, head trauma, etc. But they found nothing.

I suspect it has to do with the hemoplegic migraines I've had since I was a child. The typical migraine always started and ran the same pattern every migraine I would have. First the visual disturbance (zigzag/aura) which lasted 30 minutes. Then the left arm going numb for about 5 minutes, then head pain in left or right temple. After I passed into menopause, til now at 68 years old, migraines changed to hardly any, but had 2 migraines that took me to emergency for pain-killer shots. Also, I get milder pain "only" almost daily, with no aura or numbness. Last Monday though, I sat up in bed, getting ready to take my little dog out, and my left arm just froze up with numbness, then my left leg, and then my left side of head. I do mean my whole, left side from top of head to tip of toes on left foot. 2 days after that, I noticed things starting to come back, feeling in places, and today I still have some strong numbness left in my left arm, side of head, and have continued have migraine pain in one temple or the other. Tylenol alleviates that.

I don't know what to do, can't find any videos to help etc. I go about my daily chores, it just scares me that this is going to last the rest of my life. If anyone has some personal experience with this numbness/tingling, I would so appreciate your input on what you did for it. I'm an active lady, I walk for exercise, I eat a Keto based diet for my Type 2 diabetes, check my blood sugar and have good numbers since I was diagnosed in Jan. 2021. I am 5'2" and 119 lbs after losing from 136 just from lowering my carb intake.

Just some FYI that might help in finding out what to do here?? Thank you much, in advance for any input.

Greetings Pacific Coast Lady of Crescent City, Ca

I pray you have already found out the answer to your question and feeling so much better.

I was waiting to hear from others also regarding your question about full numbness and tingling all down your left side and almost forgot to add my input.

I have had to deal with numbness down my left side but differently from you. At first I thought my left side numbness was poor circulation due to anemia or not enough magnesium. I took notice that when I drank coffee my left leg and sometimes both legs would go numb on me. I also noticed when I started taking magnesium and potassium it either healed the problem or at least made it tolerable, but I had to take the potassium and magnesium every day. Soon that was not enough, so I started taking Natttokinase 200mgs which is the same as 4000 FUs . I prefer to take it at night before I go to bed so I do not wake up with numb limbs and that works very well for me. I also take B complex for this condition.

Every so often I stop drinking coffee for a month or so and when I do I have less numbness even when I forget to take my supplements.

I had started to wonder if the cause is carpel tunnel. Because since I loss a lot of blood early last year, I have been fighting the numbness in the first two left toes and first two left fingers as well as my left leg especially when standing.

All and all I have been feeling much better concerning this condition. Also, this year I have added Dandelion root capsules or sometimes the tea, because I noticed that when I had that bad cold earlier this year something acted as a diuretic; during that time I had no swelling and no numbness.

Live long, be strong.
