Open Wound Getting Bigger

Posted by She (Virginia, United States) on 11/24/2013

I had a really bad fall about a month ago. My right leg was very swollen and bruised and I had a really big blood blister. I didn't go to the Dr right away. I went to the emergency room about a week later as my leg was swelling more. I had a xray done and venus Doppler to make sure nothing was broken and no blood clots. Thank goodness nothing was broken and no blood clots. The swelling has gone down a lot and the blood blister has left a hole in my leg. So I have been trying to heal it naturally. I read that castor oil, coconut oil and lavender are all good for healing open wounds. So I have been putting all of those on the open wound. Have to keep it covered because it is still bleeding. This morning I took bandage off and it smelled bad and had a lot of fluid in it. I'm scared now thinking it might be infected or MRSA. The wound has gotten bigger. My visit to the emergency room cost over $3000.00. I can't afford to back! Please help!!!!!

Check out cayenne pepper under Remedies on this site. You can dump the cayenne pepper in the wound. Eat lots of garlic as well.

Dear She from Virginia,

I am so sorry this wound is giving you such trouble. The following things should help.

Activated Charcoal Poultices have helped many with similar problems. On Earch Clinic's Activated Charcoal page, in the index, you will find "How to Make a Charcoal Poultice." You will want to make it larger than the wound by at least two or three inches on all sides. During the day you should change the poultice every 2-4 hours. You can leave the poultice on overnight.

If you go to this website http://www.charcoalremedies.com and search for "wounds" You will find stories of charcoal being used this way.

Internally, you should take 1 teaspoon of turmeric (the spice) three times a day. This is 4 capsules or 1 teaspoon mixed into some milk. Turmeric is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and a blood purifier.

You should have as healthy a diet as you can, to keep your body working well to fight this infection. Avoid processed food and processed sugar.

If you can get a hold of some comfrey leaf or root to make a tea to drink, that would be good, too. Even 3 cups a day. Comfrey helps cells to regenerate faster.

Please keep us posted on your progress!

It sounds a lot its formed into an ulcer. The sure fire way to heal it is to pack it with a good grade Manuka honey .Change the dressing every other day. When you see little red spots its called granulation, this is a sign that healing is underway.

The honey stops the bacteria but wont kill it, and it will feed the wound from the outside. So if you can stand it wash first with 25% apple cider vinegar. This will kill the bug, if the wound looks a little white after this its is called blanching which means the wound is clean. The whitness is the dead clean cells.

Hello She,

Concerning your injury; You are correct...it is an infection. My favorite for bites and infections on the skin is Echinacea. This is the liquid form, not tablets. Put the Echinacea ... twenty drops... on a white paper towel and let sit as a poultice for thirty minutes. Repeat and leave for an hour. Repeat again and leave for an hour or even overnight, wrapped with plastic. Drink ten drops of the Echinacea in a glass of water. Repeat every two hours. That internal use will kill the infection if any has gotten in your system. You need three glass of the Echinacea (ten drops) taken orally for three days, spread thru the day. If topical applications make the infected site better, keep up topical apps, at least five a day, for the next three days. Don't be afraid to keep up topical use of Echinacea. I learned the miraculous power of Echinacea from a very old book written by a Texas doctor, written around 1905. He gave case after case of the healing power of Echinacea for cures relative to infections from bites of all kinds, especially pathogens from spiders and snakes. So; Echinacea is effective and I've found it so although thankfully have not tried it on snake bites!!!! Would probably be going too fast to the ER to find out if it worked on a snake bite.

If the infected "hole" is too large for the poultice, try Colloidal Silver. I've had a number of success stories with "deep wound" infections using CS. One case "poured" CS straight into the infected hole. It might sting. There are some "deep wound" clinics that are now using Silver (as a compound) as a coating on a piece of cloth and applied to the site. The result two days later is a much better healing than other agents.

Those two are what I'd try.

My Son and I have both gotten a staph infection. I am diabetic, so the first time I did not know what it was and went to the emergency room where they made a hole and drained the infection, and I had a hole where I had to go in every morning before going to work and have it drained and cleaned, and the Doctor told me to soak in the bath tub every evening for at least 30 minutes with warm water and Epsom Salt. It took a while to heal, and it returned about a month later, so I got into this website and read all I could on infections and boils. This is what I did. I mix in a small bowl size of 1/4 cup. I put like 1/2 teaspoon of manuka honey, 2 capsules of activated charcoal, 2 capsules of turmeric or you can buy it in lose powder in health stores where spices are sold and put about 1/2 teaspoon, about 1/2 teaspoon of colloidal silver the highest ppm you can find (I use 500) about 1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil. mix well and clean area good with peroxide and apply generously on wound and cover with gauze and keep covered clean and apply twice a day, and you will drain and clear up. I got it back twice and on second time I started to also crush a garlic clove with a tablespoon with organic coconut oil, and two capsules of Turmeric and let sit 10 minutes so garlic can activate and swallow and follow with water. Have never had it come back, so when my son got it from a student at school on basketball team which several boys got infected, I did my remedy and it work with out having to take him to the doctors, and he never has gotten it back. I had a friend that her daughter had gotten it several times told her my remedy she did not listen and after another 4 infections later she decided to try it and daughter has not have staph infection return. Try it works but also do the garlic remedy until you in prove. Hope this helps you to get better immediately.

Don't take me wrong. Using cayenne pepper on open wound will make it worse. Cayenne is not an antibiotic. It has anti inflammatory property but only on the right doses, usually very minimal.

If you add cayenne it will burn the hell on open wound.

some people recommend cayenne for Hemmerhoids as well, what will happen is cayenne increases the blood flow that will cause the varicose vein under more pressure eventually to enlarge the veins. And the fecal matter which still has cayenne after the digestion in the large intestines when contacts the hemmerhoids will cause sever inflammation and unbearable pain.

Futhermore, if you use GMO cayenne (chilli) powder this multiply the effects.

I am a regular eater of chilli powder or cayenne. Cayenne is part of our cooking. In a week I will eat atleast 4 tsp of cayenne. But it is in the part of meal from morning to night, from curry to sambar to pickles. And there is a limit to it and a way to use it.

Good Health

Dear She from Virginia,

I wanted to pass a long a word of caution regarding comfrey. I had mentioned taking comfrey tea. Herbalist Philip Fritchey says that comfrey should not be used when dealing with deep wounds. I do not know if your wound is deep, so I thought I should let you know that. With deep wounds comfrey can cause the skin to heal too quickly over the wound and if there is any infection in it, you could get an abscess this way. He does not specify if this happens in using comfrey internally for deep wounds or externally. I just avoid comfrey with deep wounds.

Hey! I once poured honey in an open wound in my leg wrapped it up and changed it every day. It closed up fast, but I continued about a week to ensure its healing. No puss, no keloid. When I showered I left the wrapping on and just changed it after the shower, I didnt worry much about cleaning it because I knew the power of the honey!

Thank everyone for their advice............I so appreciate it. Went to wound center and saw a wound specialist. He cleaned out wound and cleaned out the infection. Got put on an antibiotic and have to put an enzymatic wound cleaner in the wound and keep it wrapped up. As much as I don't want to take an antibiotic I'm scared not to. Don't know if I have MRSA or flesh eating bacteria. Culture wont be back for 1 week. Don't have fever, so that's a good sign. Will also be taking colloidial silver and turmeric along with antibiotic. I cant remember the last time I took an antibiotic. So Hopefully taking it now will help this hole in my leg heal!! Thx everyone! She

Hydrogen Peroxide works wonders. I cured a nasty spider bite, my dogs mange, etc. Use Hydrogen Peroxide from the store if you can't get food grade HP.
