Pneumonia Remedies Needed that Won't Aggravate Colitis

Posted by Stephanie (Long Valley, Nj) on 02/03/2016

Hi,

I am hoping someone will know what to do for pneumonia. I am very ill to begin with, I can't take antibiotics because I have ulcerative colitis. I have untreated chronic lymes and coinfections for many years now. they had me on steroids and immunosuppressants for over 10 years, for colitis, so I recently stopped taking them, and don't have much faith in doctors, including one broke my back when I was asking for help with immune disorders. I have over 20 different ailments, for example, sjogrens, fibromyalgia, etc...

But today I need help with pneumonia. I have a drip going into my airways. it feels like I am drowning. I don't know if its post nasal drip or acid reflux. it feels like its starts at my throat and goes into the airway. it tickles as it drips. my throat is irritated. my lungs are having trouble breathing. And every time I cough it hurts my broken back, hurts my colitis, then I have some blood and mucus in the toilet if I cough, and my heart and left arm hurt if I cough because my heart is weak from the lymes and sjogrens. so I do NOT want to cough. Now its harder to breathe, its into my lungs. I haven't slept but maybe 2 hours per night at most for a week now, trying all night not to cough. I would like to get well fast, I can't end up in the hospital, I feel like the hospital might make me sicker, being around all of the other sick people, since I can't fight off much. and I think the antibiotics will hurt the colitis, and all I want to do is live, and be healthy and happy, and help other people. I just made colloidal silver yesterday. I hope I made it correctly. I took a tbsp of it this morning. I bought a box of liposheric vit C, and I took a packet this morning, but it is expensive and I won't be able to get another box since I don't have an income. I made a capsule of sea salt, and took one capsule this morning. I had a cup of ginger tea each day for a week. I gargled warm water once per day with sea salt and cayenne for a week. I ate a clove of garlic with a tablespoon of lemon and honey for the last 3 days once per day. So please, if you have any ideas let me know soon. I would really appreciate your ideas and advice!

S: Some quick tips for you as you need some fast recovery. One, double then triple the C.S. dose according to response. As for Vit-C simple Ascorbic Acid plus MSM is more effective than either alone. Latter on you can make your own Lipo-Vit-C. A hot whole body bath with 1/2 cup Borax will help very much.

There are a number of natural antibiotic herbs you need to take in therapeutic doses by way of your pantry or otc products aka supplements. Garlic, Cayenne, Thyme, Oregano, Oregon Grape, Echinacea, Grapefruitseed.

When you get back up a little physically & financially you will need to do some cleanses and detox protocols. Purchase a basic Hulda Clark Zapper to magnify and increase the efficacy of the cleanses.

Hi Tim,

thank you so much. You suggested the baths to me in the past. I did take some in the summer, but my house is cold now, and if I am too tired for a bath, is it ok if I get a spray bottle and spray myself with a spray bottle with borax, and maybe epsom salt, before and after a shower instead of a bath?

Also do I mix the msm with the vit c in the same water and then drink? or first take one in water. then a minute later take the other? also which vit c? ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate? and can I take with food? and for the colloidal silver: is that 30 min before and/or 30 minutes after food?

For the natural antibiotic herbs, should I pick just one? I already have taken a garlic capsule each day for the last 3 days. and I have gargled with cayenne and sea salt once per day. I do well with oil of oregano. but with my colitis, I have never tried the other 4: thyme, oregon grape, echinacea, and grapefruitseed. Are these generally ok for someone with colitis? and would I take all of these or just pick 2 or 3? and just until my lungs are clear, or which ones are best to live on?

It's so confusing because the doctors told me for 11 years to suppress my immune system, and take the Immunosuppressants and steroids. The 1st day the doctor told me I had colitis, and prescribed my meds in 2003, and said: "Eat twinkies and don't take echinacea or anything that will help my immune system." That is a real quote! So I am on my own, now that I want to be cured and not mask the problems. You have no idea how much I value your knowledge and advice. It's so weird, because I haven't met you or the other great people on Earth Clinic, but you all seem to care more than my family, and it's an amazing feeling to know someone cares about me. And I truly care about you and all of the great and kind people here on Earth Clinic. I am sooo thankful! Unfortunately my family wants me to have my colon removed, and a titanium rod put in my back, but I want to find other ways, and cure my lymes so I can stop being so dizzy! And feel human again! For today, I will be happy to clear my lungs, and get some sleep. I have echinacea tea, I will give that a try right now.

Thank you a million times! Steph

Hello Stephanie and TY for responding with such gratitude. Yes, there are some very good folks here on E.C. and maybe you will get some responses as everyone has their own angle and put all together may make for a more holistic or complete remedy.

I am so busy keeping myself going that I can't always do my best here, and sometimes I must muse on a topic or post for several hrs or a day or two to get a good response out. Tonight my mind was absent on remedies for you but several times I got empathetic and thinking how precious you are and feeling guilty of addressing you in my last post with an abbreviation instead of a "Dear Stephanie".

Like yourself, I have had some bad experiences in the medical community and friends or family, but one must deal with these situations with patience and detachment. Keep focused on your own wellness and do not let the negative social problems stick in your mind.

OK, back to your involved condition. For the money, you would probably do best by making your own Buffered C with Baking Soda or Sea Salt and Ascorbic Acid. As for MSM, I think you can mix with the C in a glass or take together. As for myself, I find MSM to unpleasant by powder form so I take 1500mg tab with a shot of LET Vit-C before a meal. The Colloidal Silver would be best before or with a meal. Do you have a Nebulizer? Nebing C.S. or H2O2 would be worth a try starting with a minimal dose for safety sake.

I am concerned that your indoor air is very sub-par. Could you please explain in as much detail as possible what sort of filtration etc as this could be a major problem.

As for the herbs, they are all OK to take together with a meal or snack. Also, you must take some Milled Flax Seed with the herbs to achieve a mild Colon Cleanse while the natural antibiotics kill the pathogens in the bloodstream. Aloe Vera is also very good for the Colon. Dosage will vary depending on the severity of the condition, so for now be liberal in that dept. As for lung herbs and teas, MamaToMany is the best advise and maybe a poultice would help right now.

As for the Minerals, of course you can use them orally or the spray you mentioned or during the winter do very warm Foot Baths in place of whole body tub bath. Speaking of minerals, if you have a Fungal infection (which you likely will with the other infections) you may find Molybdenum plus Niacinamide very helpful for removing toxic Aldehydes. If this is the case your response should be improvement for a nervous condition to a more relaxed, and improvements in energy. If or when you can afford take Magnesium Malate in combination with any other Magnesium for improved detox and energy. Red Apples are supposed to have the best Malic Acid levels of all foods.

I am also concerned that you are seriously deficient in antioxidant nutrition. Zinc & Vit-A are critical for immunity & healing, and Selenium & Vit-E are critical for overall detox boosting and in combination with EFA's or Fish Oil or Fish like Salmon, Mackerel, or Sardines critical for healing. The coughing up blood is a sign of deficiencies of the above.

Hope you are feeling better tomorrow and hear back from you.

Hi Timh,

Thank you so much again. I greatly respect your knowledge and education! You can call me S, steph, stephanie, doesn't matter, I am so appreciative of your help, you have no idea!

I have figured out, unfortunately, that this infection I have, has also led to LPR. I have ALL of the symptoms. I don't want to have this! I am not trying to self diagnose, I am just searching for cures for my discomforts. I will work on your ideas this week, and try to get into a routine of supplements, that will agree with me. my house is certainly not the cleanest. I have a broken back, so I don't clean much. and with my chronic lymes and almost vertigo 24/7, I mostly just rest. no air filter, just windows, if you stand near a wall or window, or uncarpeted floor on a cold or windy day, you would think you were outside! There is mildew downstairs. this house was built in the 1700's, so if only the walls would talk, I would find out what germs I need to get rid of. I keep the window open a few hours a day. I thought maybe I could get a spray bottle and spray the air with something that would clean it. would peroxide from the pharmacy mixed with water, and sprayed in my room, clean the air? I do keep my bedroom warm, and I have lots of blankets.

I don't have a nebulizer.

Here is where I get very confused! I have ulcerative colits since 2002. I took immunosuppressants and steroids since 2003. I stopped this summer 2015, someone suggested that I might have a better chance of curing the lymes if I stopped the colitis meds. I agree. In 2014 I started the leaky gut diet and the specific carbohydrate diet (SCD diet). SCD diet does not allow mucilaginous herbs and mucilaginous polysaccharides, does not allow aloe vera, or slippery elm, or marshmallow, etc. They say that "we who have compromised guts can't digest this stuff, but our bugs can have quite a party on it! " "in theory they coat the intestines, and make us feel better temporarily, but in the long run are only food for the pathogens, and absolutely, positively illegal for the SCD diet".

now can you see why I get sooooo confused? even Ted always said to take Aloe Vera Oil. and the only aloe vera oil that I found at my health food store is for external skin, and they said not to take it internally, but I think there is some aloe vera oil online somewhere that is available for internal use.

I am not following the scd diet or leaky gut diet exactly lately, I am willing to try anything at this point. But I don't understand about the mucilaginous warnings. and I do want to try some of the ideas for LPR, but they conflict with the SCD diet.

Today, my goal is to cure the infection in my throat/lungs. its just that some of my problems tend to overlap sometimes. I am not trying to be wimpy. but I am very weak, sensitive, and alone, so I have to be careful, but I want to be as aggressive as possible! I need to be able to go back to work.

I just took the ascorbic acid vit c, mixed with the msm. I will start tomorrow with niacinamide and molybdenum. I plan to take the niacinamide at bedtime. when should I take the molybdenum? I have magnesium, I take that once a day. should I mix the magnesium with potassium? Last week I started 3 brazil nuts per day for selenium. Is there a food I should eat for the vitE, or should I get a supplement? I started Zinc picolinate last week, but I am going to switch to Zinc gluconate when it runs out.

Thanks a million again! You are the best! Steph

Dear Timh and earth clinic,

its stephanie.

timh, you have been helping me this week with a throat/lung infection, but now I have severe upper arm pain, its excruciating. the only thing I found on earth clinic was frozen shoulder. I don't know if thats what it is. it hurts so much that I want to go to the hospital, but I don't drive at night. I haven't slept much this last week, because of the drip going into my airways has kept me up. maybe the sitting up at night has something to do with it, I don't know. I just know that it hurts so much. do you have any ideas?

thank you so much! Steph

Dear Stephanie,

My understanding is that frozen shoulder pain is excruciating. But sudden severe arm pain also makes me concerned about a heart attack. Could you call 911? I would rather be safe than sorry with you!

Do you have cayenne pepper at home? That is Dr. Christopher's remedy for possible heart attack (while awaiting medical attention) and it is also surprisingly helpful for pain. 1 teaspoon in a glass of water or juice. Pain is also worse with dehydration.

Please be sure to let us know how you are doing. I will be praying for you.

OK Steph. Could this pain be directly related to the drip thing? Do you have some kind of stent into your chest? I don't understand exactly? Mama's theory of possible heart failure seems possible but not likely unless you also have other classic signs of heart failure. This could very likely be a pulled muscle as a result of low protein in diet and the lung issue.

As for the pain directly let me share my last episode and maybe you can do the remedy. On July 3rd I got bit on my hand by a grown male kitty which resulted in a deep puncture wound. It wasn't until the next day that the swelling & pain started and quickly surged nearly all way up my arm. For nearly three days I rotated Magnet Therapy and Cold Packs, slept erratically, ate very little, and remained in bed and thankfully recovered. A warm, wet cloth soaked in Epsom Salts should help applied directly to the area.

If you have an affordable source for good generic nutrition, do get some Melatonin to help this insomnia. You must get rest somehow.

I will go ahead with the Niacin & Molybdenum question here then jump over to your other post. MolyB is recommended at 200mcg 2x daily and take the Niacin with it to remove aldehydes. This may help restore some sleep. Another toxic byproduct of infections is ammonia, which makes it nearly impossible to sleep. Vit-C should help some but either the amino acid Ornithine or Aspartic Acid is best for removing ammonia. You will also likely need to do some alkalizing as lactic acid and other acids deplete nutrition and cause major physiological disturbances like loss of sleep.

Steph. I almost finished a lengthy response for you and suddenly lost it, so I will try to do it again offline if possible when I can, the best I can. I need to try and sleep now yet I am very worried for you. It will take some time to retrieve and type that post. I think my curser went off the box and I tried to back-space and lost it all.

Hi Timh and mama to many,

I don't think the arm/shoulder pain is my heart. the lymes and sjogrens has made my heart very weak, and when my heart hurts, it usually also hurts my left arm. But yesterday and today its my right arm/shoulder. its severe. Last week when I researched lung/throat infection and the drip feeling into my airways, sounds like LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux), so that is why I feel like my airways are being drowned. I dont have a stent in my chest. I need to take the natural antibiotics that you suggested, and the vit e and magnesium. when I cough, it hurts not just my throat, but my heart, my lower back injury, and it hurts my colitis and my lower left abdomen, so I do NOT want to cough. but when I looked up the sudden and severe shoulder/arm pain, it sounded similar to frozen shoulder. I don't know if thats what it is, if I have to label the pain, but it is almost impossible to get dressed, or to find a position where it doesn't hurt. Last night I called the primary doctor and he said take tylenol and ice it, or go to the emergency room. I took the tylenol, but would have preferred to take something healthier. I tried to ice it but it made it hard to breathe. I took a very warm shower, and the arm pain was worse. I can try the warm wet epsom salt washcloth. I have magnets on my refrigerator, does that kind help? I do have melatonin, but if I take more than 1 drop, it makes me very dizzy, and with my horrible dizziness I have at night, I have to take the 1 drop of Melatonin in the daytime. I would be able to sleep if I didn't have the fluid dripping into my airway, and also if this new shoulder pain would stop. But because of all of this, I do get more nervous at night. I do not have ornithine or aspartic acid. is it in a certain food? the B3 niacinamide should arrive today, so I can take that with the molybdenum today. I have DMSO which I never tried before. I got it last year. I was going to try it on my spine for the lymes, but never got the courage to try it. it is DMSO gel, 70% with aloe vera 30% in a 2 oz jar, made in Ghent, KY. should I apply that? or should I try the refrigerator magnets? or the warm wet washcloth with epsom salt?

normally I dont sleep more than 2 hours at a time, because I have intersitial cystitis and have to empty my bladder very often or it hurts. but I am happy to sleep just 2 hours at a time. I just need to get back to that.

i am glad that you healed from the cat bite wound. I know they can be deep because they have such special teeth. if the cat is still rambunctious, you can tie a small cloth or feather to a 2ft long string and tie the other end to a stick and wiggle that around for the cat to play with for 20 min each night before you go to bed, and the cat will be happier. they like a hunting job. then I put the toy away when they are not supervised.

also, for the cayenne pepper, if its not my heart, can I still take the cayenne pepper to help the shoulder? and is it ok to take it in a capsule? and yes, I am dehydrated all over. I have sjogrens, its dehydrating. I am taking an omega 3 for the sjogrens. so I need to fix the infection, fix the dripping fluid into the airway, hydrate, reduce inflamation and pain. I thank you from my heart for all of your advice!

Dear Stephanie,

I am glad you have had contact with your primary doctor and that it sounds like he is not concerned about this new pain being heart related.

Yes, you can take cayenne in capsules (though I find it is more likely to cause some digestive distress this way- do take with some food to avoid this.) I have found it helpful for pain.

Turmeric is also excellent for pain, infection and inflammation. I mix 1 teaspoon into a cup of milk kefir a couple of times a day when I need it.

I once had a rotator cuff injury that sounded very similar to your shoulder pain. I needed help to get dressed. And the pain began when I reached too far to get something out of a high cabinet. I did kefir/tumeric/comfrey drinks a couple of times a day for a few days and it helped immensely.

Turmeric and cayenne can be taken together if you have both.

I would definitely try the DMSO on the shoulder.

Keep us posted!

Wow! I can tell you are in severe pain on that shoulder/arm area. Here's my story: I had your shoulder pain and carpel tunnel syndrome. Following a NO Milk/No Wheat diet got rid of my shoulder pain but the carpel tunnel pain still frequently bothered me. At the same time, my father-in-law had shoulder AND knee pain. The pain from both was killing Dad so much, he couldn't sleep for more than 30 minutes. A friend suggested Diatomaceous Earth (DE- food grade) for both our problems. I shared the knowledge and a jar of the stuff with my father. We each took a flat teaspoon upon waking with a huge glass of water and after our last meal. Within 2 days, my carpel tunnel was gone and Dad said his shoulder pain had lessened and his knee felt so much better. Within a week, he had no shoulder pain and only a very slight pain in his operated-on knee. The only problem he had with DE was it constipated him and I think this might be because he wasn't drinking as much water as he should during the day. So, we tackled the constipation next with Dr. Schulze's intestinal cleaner which he still uses about once a month because he says he's never had such a cleaning as that. He no longer takes the DE now and has not asked me to get more -- says he feels fine. I'm just glad to see him still piddle-paddling around! Peace & Love, CAT

OK, Steph, I'm back. Lot of ground to cover so hope I get most of it right. As for the Magnets & pain, the stronger the magnet the better. A refrigerator magnet is a good start but not very strong. Someone posted recently of stacking several ref mags together for more power.

As for the puncture wound from the kitty, to be clear, wasn't a pet or my own kitty and was a case of my first attempt of affection meeting his sense of self-defense.

For cleaning the air of germs etc. a cloth or paper towel with Oil of Eucalyptus and smaller portion of Camphor is effective. A constant minimal dose during habitation and much larger dose while away would be a good method. When you get back on your feet a bit, do consider Negative Ion and Ozone Air Purifiers.

For gut healing, forget about the mucaligenic herbs, and first alkalize, then do the natural antibiotic herbs for several days or wks, then take DGL caps or tabs plus a spoon of Allantoin. The DGL/Allantoin will quickly heal the guts. Do this 1 hr before a meal 1x daily for 1 wk and you should see great improvements in digestion. It is also important to take Milled Flax seed with the natural antibiotic herbs to clean the colon. In severe cases of chronic infection like yours, also consider rotating the herbs with Turpentine for best results.

As for the MolyB & Niacin take as recommended on labels but do take them together. As for the Zinc, also take 5, 000iu Vit-A as these are synergistic for protecting & healing epithelial tissues like lungs and guts. No good sources of Vit-E so supplements are best. A full spectrum Vit-E which contains both Tocopherols & Tocotreinols is best. Kinda pricey but at least a minimal dose will bond with the EPAs & Selenium; and considering your weak heart, adding CoQ10 with these would be superb. After you get the guts healed you should be able to absorb the melatonin much better and it will combine with the Selenium/E/CoQ10 for maximum antioxidant protection

The LPR you mentioned is an abrev for Low Pulse Rate, yes? If this is the case do consider taking a supplement of Raw Bovine Pituitary, Pantothenic Acid, and Panax Ginseng to restore your adrenals. On the topic of restoring glands, place that refrigerator magnet over the Thymus for up to 1 hr daily and fallow that with “tapping". Make a fist with one hand and place it in upright position directly over the Thymus area and strike your fist with the palm of the other hand. These stimulate and recover the Thymus which boost immune cells production.

For removing ammonia, the Ornithine or Aspartic Acid by supplement would be the only therapeutic method or source.

Hoping to hear good news from you soon.

Dear Timh, and Mama to Many, Alexandra and Cat,

Thank you all so much for your help. I am going to get an xray of my shoulder tomorrow, it hurts a lot, I don't know if its frozen, or dislocated, or something else. I have many of the supplements now to start taking, I still have a few more to get, and I need to get into a routine of which ones to take together and what time.

The LPR is laryngopharyngeal reflux, which just started last week. I just learned the name for it here on earth clinic. its like a constant post nasal drip, dripping into my airway, and I am concerned the drip could be full of bacteria getting into my lungs, so it seems like a domino effect of one problem and then another! And it makes me cough which hurts everything. Is the 1st and most important to alkalize? is it 30 min after a meal? and take 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in water? the other LPR of low pulse rate I don't think I have, I usually just have low blood pressure, and very anemic, so I take an iron pill.

This is what I am taking so far: one cup of tea per day, either green or ginger. 1/4tsp lysine, 1/4tsp glutamine, 1/4tsp NAC all 3 together 2x/day. Vit C 2x/day, one of those times with 1/2tsp MSM. CS once per day( I try for more, but since it has to be on empty stomach, and I take so many supplements, it seems like theres never a time that my stomach is empty). COQ10 with turmeric once/day. 1 garlic pill 2x/day. Vit B complex. 1 B12 sublingual/day. niacinamide before bed. magnesium/potassium pill 2x/day. zinc. 3 brazil nuts. 1T ACV with honey. Probiotic. 1T BSM once a week. Just started 1 HCL after meal. 6 drops oil of oregano.

As you can see there are many more supplements I have to add. I am so tired, its hard to do it all at once. thank you so much and I will keep adding everything that you suggested, slowly, I wish it all could come in 1 pill! It would be less tiring. I know if I didn't have colitis, then I would be getting more nutrients directly from my food. the most important thing seems to alkalize to fix the drip into my airways, and also the other immediate help I need is my shoulder pain, but maybe an xray is best. if there was a doctor in NJ that I trusted, maybe they could adjust the shoulder back into place. If anyone suggests a trusting doctor, I would be appreciative.

Timh, I keep rereading your posts, you are amazing! Thank you

Thank you Mama to Many, Thank you everyone helping me, it means so much to me! I hope I can help someone too! -Steph

Gosh Steph, I wonder you are still able to put up a fight. You are doing lots of good remedies and trying to do them properly which is necessary. I am very much like yourself in regards to complexity & severity. I went down the road to ruin far too long and it's a long way back to health. In the last 24-36 hrs I have narrowly averted a crisis. Living alone I have no room for stupidity or mistakes. Luckily, I identified every problem and applied appropriate cures and am feeling much better right now.

Alkalizing prior to meals is best but be sure to not over alkalize as this causes digestive problems. Speaking of digestion, it appears obvious that you need to do the recommendations for gut healing before you can see any real efficacy from your supplements. Proly half or more of those nutrients are not making it to your bloodstream. This is why I recommend mineral baths so often. One remedy that helped my upper digestion most was Nystatin. N proved way more effective than any or all natural remedies including C.S. and Zapping. Next time you go to your PCP, beg um' for a Nystatin Rx. and after that treatment do the DGL/Allantoin to heal your guts back. Rotate this regimen with the antiparasite & pathogen remedies and if done properly, you will get much better. In the meantime, do search the technology of Lipospheric Encapsulation better known as LET. I have been using LET on a variety of nutrients with very good results. It is amazing how much more effective nutrition delivery is with LET for anyone and particularly folks with leaky gut etc. I have been down this road of taking large amounts of supplements with very little effect. Of course removing the waste products of acid, aldehyde, and ammonia helps considerably.

Is there a good Chiropractor in your neighborhood? Naturopathic Dr / ND?

More tips for energy is Coconut Oil, Iodine, and Zapping. All these increase cell voltage. Bee Pollen is a super food that I have used for decades to keep my energy up. If you can find some BP in bulk at a good price take 2 heaping spoons per day and you will see major improvement in energy & stamina as BP is a very nutrient dense food that is somewhat readily absorbed in the GI track without lengthy digestive processes. BP is also very effective by LET, again proving that oral route is compromised.

Hoping you improve very much very soon.

Hi Timh and Mama to Many,

Timh, I understand how living alone you have no room for mistakes, I think of that everytime I walk down the stairs, to be super careful, there is no one to pick you up if you fall, so falling is not an option. and when your heart hurts, to relax, breath, think of great things, take the necessary supplements, no matter how hard it is to walk to the kitchen! I am so glad to know you are feeling better right now!

I went to the doc and asked for the Nystatin. he gave me the pills, not the liquid. should I try the pills? Or, should I try to get the liquid? The pills state that they have additives, and that some people have reactions to the additives, but do not list the ingredients. I remember trying Nystatin in 2010, but it was liquid.

I didn't find a DGL/allantoin supplement yet. Only found DGL. Again, I am confused because its so hard to follow the Specific Carbohydrate Diet since they say no licorice. I am not following it perfectly anymore, but trying not stray too far off of the diet. only when its important. and it sounds like I should try the DGL, and see how my colitis does.

I asked the doctor if a nutritionist would be covered by my medicaid and he said no. I do not have a natural doctor, I had found a wonderful chiropractor who was basically a nutritionist and did acupressure, and I was very grateful to see him for a few months, but he suddenly passed away a year ago, he was amazing, he saw me for free since I am unable to work. If I couldn't breathe, or was in vertigo, he always helped, and believed me when I told him what I was feeling. My regular doctor is all I can afford since he's in my medicaid. He isn't trained in natural meds. So for my LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) he gave me Zantac (Ranitidine). I don't know if I should take the Zantac or just try the baking soda.

I don't know much about the antiparasite & pathogen remedies. I do have lugols iodine, its hard for me to bend so I have never put it on my feet, but I put 2 drops on my wrist and rub my wrists together. Is that ok? I have coconut oil. I like it on my salmon, once a wk. I have tried to eat a tsp of it, daily, but I am not consistent. I have 7 large mercury fillings, so I am not sure if its ok to do the coconut oil pulling, with the mercury. In fact, I am not sure what is ok to take since I have them. Currently removing them is not an option. Both financially, and physically since I am in back pain 24/7, and constant mild vertigo from the lymes, so traveling is hard.

i have bee pollen that I got 2 years ago from my neighbors farm. I am sure it is still good. I don't think it goes bad. But when I tried to take it, I wasn't sure if I had a reaction, so I stopped, and haven't been brave enough to try it again. I do have a tsp of honey daily though. again, the Specific Carb Diet says no, to bee pollen, its hard to get better if I can't try these healthy cures! So thats why I am not perfect on the SCD diet. do you think its ok to try it again? and I could just start with a small amount, and see if my colitis is happy?

Mama to Many,

I went to the doctor. he said he thinks its rotator cuff and I don't need xray, and don't need orthopedic doctor yet. he said to move and use my arm and shoulder. I have a lot more use of it as of yesterday. What I did so far: I rubbed 70% dmso gel on it, 30% aloe. took magnesium citrate. took a COQ10 /cocurcumin supplement, and rested my shoulder. I am very interested in what you did. you said you had a drink of kefir/turmeric/comfrey a few times a day. I am confused about comfrey. I don't know how to take it. I saw it on the internet. I ran out of turmeric capsules, but I do have a bottle that I sprinkle on my salmon, I could use that. I saw Kefir at the grocery store. can I buy that kind or do I need the healthy kind from the health food store? I don't plan on making it, I have limited energy and $. They said great things about Comfrey on the internet, I am very interested. Also it said that allantoin is in comfrey, and Timh suggests allantoin, so since you both suggest it, then it must be great! Thank you so much! -Steph

Dear Stephanie,

I recently used some kefir from the grocery store when I was out of town and was happy with it. I haven't tried it for something acute so can't really compare it with home made, but if home made is not an option, I think it is certainly worth a try!

Yes, you can use the same turmeric that you use in your kitchen. You avoid fillers and and such when you take it that way. It isn't bad mixed in kefir. (Well, my kids don't agree with me on that... :) )

The comfrey I have used was fresh. I was using a fresh leaf with kefir etc in my blender. But if you could get dried comfrey leaf powder, you could try that instead. (I would mix a teaspoon a couple of times a day into a kefir drink.) Comfrey is supposed to be excellent for ibs symptoms, though I think the SCD you are on says NOT to take mucilaginous herbs, which comfrey is....

I think the DMSO and supplements you are doing for your shoulder sound great. Alternating heat and cold is also a wonderful pain/healing treatment and it is free! I have done this using a heating pad and frozen rice sock. Alternating each on a pained area. Cold, hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, cold. About a minute each. This can be done a few times a day. If you do not have a heating pad you can make another rice sock and microwave it for the warm application. The idea is that the cold reduces inflammation and the warm is bringing fresh blood for healing.

Good to hear from you. You are really persevering!

Steph. Let's back up a bit. The predominant cause of chronic infections and the diseases that fallow, like colitis, are an intelligent synthesis of a combination of heavy metals, zenobiotics aka chemical toxins, parasites, and pathogens. For most folks the logic is to treat the apparent symptoms or disease. In your case, it is natural to want your colon to heal and be well again. Problem is, it is not possible to heal your gut without first removing any toxins and killing all parasites & pathogens.

Have you taken any Bentonite Clay or Activated Charcoal? This would clear a number of toxins temporarily but if your body is suffereing with toxicity issues you must continue the B or AC at least once a day. If you have a pet or history of living with or cuddling with pets, your chances of parasites is very high. The typical anti-parasite herbs are Black Walnut, Clove, and Wormwood; and along with the other herbs will kill them in time. The Turpentine plus zapping is quite powerful for a number of paras and pathogens. The natural herbal product Humaworm has many great reviews.

I add Iodine to my drinking water for a steady supply but you can take it orally in a large dose 1x day. When I first began a severe stage of fungal infection, I found a very warm footbath with Povidone Iodine would make for a good kill but it takes about an hr for this.

Allantoin is sold as an additive for skin care in many products as it speeds the regeneration of epithelial tissue. You can find it on Amazon or Ebay. As for the Zantac, the big neg side effects are inhibition of detox enzymes and increase fungal infections. One big benefit is that combined with Chlorella is one of the best gut healing remedies, up there with DGL & Allantoin.

Comfrey is a great healing herb, but with one major side effect, it contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that are hepatoxic. My aging dad has been dealing with the coloitis for some time so I gave him some Comfrey Root powder not long back and he got immediately ill and called the poison hotline. No more C and back to better the next day. This indicates his liver is far below 100%. Usually it takes sever doses or several wks of Comfrey to cause toxicity symptoms. The current warnings are to not consume orally for any length of time and most all distributors recommend as a topical remedy only. Allantoin is the key healing ingredient of Comfrey and is not at all toxic. I been down this road and find the DGL/Allantoin combo excellent for gut healing.

When the weather warms a bit do get back to the baths but this time add a few grains of Sodium thiosulfate first, to remove metals from the water, then soak for 20-30 minutes to remove heavy metals from body, then add your Borax & Epsom Salts for the remainder of the bath. You may want to consider a heavy metal hair analysis test. Do this prior to the ST baths. If you test positive for any number or high in any of the worst ones like Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, and Arsenic, then consider baths with Tetrasodium EDTA, rotated with mineral baths to keep those levels up.

As for the Nystatin, I experience no side effects, and much benefit. I need only use Nystatin or DGL/A occasionally if I get in bad shape, otherwise doing the above mentioned remedies keep my guts healed enough. The use of a zapper will greatly increase the efficacy of the Nystatin as it does with any natural or pharmaceutical meds.

Another quick relief and remedy for colitis is Butryic Acid. BA is used by the colon as a source of fuel. To get BA eat whole grain (real) buttered toast daily. The kinda rotten egg smell of butter is BA and is very colon healthy. I would add some sprinkles of Milled Flax to the toast for best results.
