Questions About Borax
I am new to the boron discussions, a 61 year old female, 110 lbs. and I have some questions. I am thyroid hypo, I have struggled with depression for many, many years, which I just found out with help of Earth Clinic, that Lexapo my depression medication contains fluoride. As well, I have high cholesterol, brain fog, memory issues (my mother had dementia), I have fatigue, back, hip, and shoulder pain. I often do notfeel well in my gut and I am wondering if the alternative sweeteners I have been using are giving me an unsettled stomach. I am somewhat scared of taking the boron, however I do want to give it a try. I understand the dosage, 1/8 tsp of boron with a liter of water 5 days on 2 days off, but what is the recommendation of time duration? Is there a danger of being on it too long? And does it make a difference to what kind of container the drinking solution is held in, plastic, metal, glass, as you drink it throughout the day? If I keep it in a thermos with a metal lining does that create a bad reaction with boron? My husband struggles with diabetes, is there any evidence that boron helps with diabetes? Can boron help with a boil? Can boron help with hemorrhoids? Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi Abby,
You've got a lot going on!
Starting with borax, not boron, I've been taking it for over 17 years and not had any problem that I could attribute directly to borax. I drink it from a plastic water bottle, but I know that is not the most healthy option and glass would be a better choice.

Many people have found some relief for diabetes using Berberine at 1500 mg per day in three divided doses of 500 mg at breakfast, 500 mg at lunch and 500 mg at dinner as discussed in this human/diabetes/berberine study :

Abby, intermittent fasting helps with diabetes. But if your hubby is on medications for that, his doc should supervise. For boils, easy peasy. I use 27% hydrogen peroxide, rub it in for about 10 seconds, and do it once or twice a day until the thing is gone. No need for any puncturing or lancing. It will just fade away.
