Questions About Kitten With Mange

Kitten I recently got was missing hair. Took it to the vet, found out it had mange. Was playing with my older cat who hasn't had any problems at all and didn't seem to get it from the kitten when they were playing, but I'm still gonna give my older cat a shot just as a precaution.
Question is, my kitten just got his shot, is it ok for him to roaming the house and allowed to play with the older cat or should I restrain him from my cat and myself? And when I do just have him in a cage he goes a little bit crazy of wanting to come out.
