Questions For Oscar About Bht And Fructose

Posted by Maggiemay (Toronto, Ontario) on 05/21/2015

Dear Oscar

I came across your posts on Earth Clinic yesterday. Have had Hep C for 30plus years. No symptoms so far! Am a little concerned about trying the BHT because of its effect on fructose production. Not easy to find a doctor in these parts who is connected to ohip and supports anything natural! Thank you for your information/site support.

Dear Maggiemay [ Toronto ]: There is some confusion here. Fructose is one of the sugars. BHT does NOT interfere with the metabolism of fructose. The sugar fructose is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and BHT does NOT interfere with this process.

And fructose does NOT screw up the BHT treatment. It is grapefruit juice specifically that degrades the BHT treatment. Grapefruit juice is made up of a very many compounds. And grapefruit juice has been shown to interact with a long list of medications including BHT.

Gee, I hope I cleared this issue up. But I doubt it. Yes I do know that grapefruit juice can be very beneficial. But I also know it degrades the BHT treatment....Oscar
